Analysis: The Epidemic Of Homelessness

“I never imagined myself being homeless.” That is what most people say after their financial foundation crumbles and they find their self on the street. It is troubling for most to envision being broke, jobless, and ultimately hopeless and therefore, the homeless issue is overlooked. Homelessness is a prevailing epidemic that is currently affecting more than 1.5 million Americans and over 100 million people worldwide.
In today’s society it is evident that only people that have experience or have come close to experiencing the hardship of homelessness seem conscious of the growing problem and are willing to uplift those who are down on their luck. A major factor that hinders the aiding of homeless citizens is people’s perception of homeless people. The homeless is dehumanized, they are often times treated unfairly. The discrimination they face is uncanny for example they are often denied to entry into establishments, proper health care, and protection. Not only are the homeless viewed as a subhuman group, society also tends to criminalizes them therefore they are often feared.
