This movie opened my eyes to the weight struggles of others. I have Celiac disease, so I don’t consume processed foods as often as others, due to the gluten restrictions of my diet. (If I eat something with gluten in it, it causes migraines,…
This movie was inspiration for me because it shows me how two people changed the way are either for their family or for themselves.…
What did you learn from the film that you did not know already? Has it changed your perspective in any way? If so, how?…
As annoyed as I was watching the film, my mind was finally put at ease at the end. The 12 minutes of confusion I suffered gave me a small life lesson in return. As confused as I was it reminded me of the thoughts I endure daily trying to get through my day and handle life's challenges.…
To begin, my favorite scene in this movie is when they have to give the grandpa sleeping medicine to calm him down because he would not leave. He reminds me of my grandparents when they did not want to leave their house that they lived and raised their kids for fifteen years. Even though my grandparents got their house back the family in the movie had to go because they were in the dust bowl and they had to leave because if they didn’t they would get killed. It reflects when people were losing their houses and they couldn’t afford to keep them or sometimes leave them behind because that’s all they had and that’s how they got their money, shelter, and food.…
Overall I thought the film was very interesting and informative. I really enjoyed the foods provided as well. I hope with some time I can slowly make a start to a healthier eating lifestyle and cut down my carbon footprint.…
This movie really showed how many hearing parents of deaf children felt. What information was or wasn’t given to them along the way. How hard it was to make the decisions that they did. There is so much that you must decide for your child. A lot of the time the parents weren’t thinking about their child and how they would benefit from their initial decision to either teach and learn ASL or go down the long hard road of speech therapy day after day. When in the end they aren’t going to achieve more than a fourth grade…
The documentary titled "Living On One Dollar” was an emotional piece that demonstrated how humans in impoverish countries manage to survive with very little income. What was amazing about the film, is the fact that these four college students named Zach, Chris, Sean, and Ryan just didn’t read facts and talk about the problems in our society, instead they gave the audience an first-view perspective, by placing themselves in the poverty-stricken country of Guatemala, as they attempted to live off one dollar a day for 56 days. The reason they decided to live off just a dollar a day is due to many residents being informally employed, therefore their pay is very unpredictable. Zach and Chris imitated this scenario by drawing a number of 0-9 from a hat each morning. In addition to managing off a small amount of money a day, they…
This movie was a really good insight into what really happened during the Holocaust, and everything that families and children had to endure. Whether you died in the concentration camp, were related to one of the victims, or you made it out alive, nothing was ever the…
This movie is great for several reasons. It is inspiring, entertaining and offers hope for mankind. The idea is to help three people in need and when they ask you what do you want in return, all you have to do is tell them that they will not want to do it. Of course, this is reverse psychology and the more you say they will not want to do it, the more they will want to do it. When they pester you for an answer, you then tell them that they have to help three other people in return. This strategy is called "Pay It Forward". The word Forward meaning instead of paying back the favor to the person who helped you (who has been helped before by others) they will find three other people to return the favor. They do not have to do it, but they will definitely want to do it, because they have been helped unselfishly and it truly is a pleasure to help without asking for any reward in return.…
By watching this movie, I really got a better understanding on the disorder of paranoid schizophrenia. I had never really understood what having a mental disorder was like for a person and how they would deal with it. Also, I learned that a mental disorder does not only affect the person dealing with it, but it affects their family and friends. It is an everyday struggle that…
This film does not change my opinion on community service because I already feel big on community service like always have. I always felt that you should give back to others that do not have the same as you. Everyone deserves the right and ethical…
I would recommend this film to older teens and adults. The film has a lesson that makes you realise that not every body is the same. It proves that under the right circumstances, people can change for the better or worse.…
Theis films shows tat everyone is their equal and that they should be helped and cared for, just like everyone else.…
I felt very moved by the father that lost his job and soon after began using food banks to feed himself and his children. The fact that the movie showed someone that once held such a reputable position forced into poverty allows you to realize that this is something that can happen to anyone. I have been in a similar scenario and have faced the “degraded” feeling that encompasses you as you collect your food. Knowing that you can not supply what your family needs to survive can make you feel not only defeated, but you also have a sense of being a failure for taking these handouts.…
