INTRODUCTION
Food and Beverage industry of India have been booming for last 10 years as compared to other developed nations. Food industry includes both packaged and unpackaged as well as beverages either alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. Being a producer of coffee, India consumes 75% of coffee and exports the remaining. At present, India accounts for 16.3% of South Asia food retail industry. According to the research, Indian food retail industry is estimated to bet at $479.6 bn in 2018 which is an increase of 51.4% in 2013.
Earlier, coffee was treated as south Indian drink, however due to growth of Indian economy and entrance of MNC’s has changed this perspective. Out of world total consumption of 20.2 million bags in 2012, India has consumed 4.4% of coffee in year 2012. Due enhancing population, high disposable income, entrance of FDI and other reasons, this figure is likely to increase in future.
Moreover, there is a large population in the age group of 25-35 which prefers non-alcoholic beverages while having meetings, group chat, hangouts and other occasions. According to Goldman Sachs, Indian economic growth could actually exceed China in year 2015 which displays more prospects for coffee industry to gain a boom in India.
There are many big players which are involved into business of providing coffee to large base of customers like Tata Coffee, Pantaloons, and Amalgamated Green Coffee Trading. These players have associated with foreign players like Starbucks, CCD, Barista and Café Brew which provides quality coffee to customers at different price range.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH
A research cannot be initiated without having appropriate objectives in mind which further leads to delivery of results. Hence, to provide correct conclusions I have formulated these objectives. The objectives of research are:
