Executive Summary
The Bangladeshi Legal system has a rich history. Mixing influences from the Mughal Empire, Hindu Empires that have ruled Bengal at some point in its history and finally the greatest influence on the current legal system of Bangladesh can be attributed to the British Empire. This report mainly gives an overview of the legal system of Bangladesh. First the report gives a brief history and background of the lineage of the Bangladeshi legal system. The report then goes on to describe the Criminal Justice Administration System of the country in detail. Lastly in the closing stages of the report, two criminal cases were analyzed from the training and skills learned from the legal Environment of Business Course. Even though the legal system of Bangladesh has a rich and vibrant history, the rule of law is often not exercised properly. Rampant corruption in the society and government has made the implementation of the law difficult. This has caused criminals to walk free, even though proper laws exist to prosecute them. We, who have compiled this report, suggest the government implement laws stringently in order to serve the populace properly. Also we suggest the government should implement proper safeguards and controls in order to prevent the abuse of power and law. 1.0 Introduction
