An Essay of Dreams

Our professor gave us this homework of writing a feature article about ourselves, more of an autobiography if I must assume. At first I wasn’t so sure what to write. I decided to search the internet and find out first what is feature writing and how do you do it. Then I came up with this article… Sometimes a task can seem monumental when you try to visualize the entire thing, but if you break it down into smaller goals, suddenly it can be manageable. That is how I perceive my life now. Coming from a family that acknowledges your strengths, the pressure of having to face the responsibilities of being a grown-up soon, these are the current issues my life is facing now. As a child, my Mom raised me to have strong beliefs in my ability and strive to continue learning. She taught me never to back down on challenges and that I must not get contented at what I have reached and that I should always try my best to become a better person than I was yesterday. But of course, growing-up has its own brand of restraining forces. There are those hindrances from school, work, family, church and what not. It all boils down to the ultimate challenge of being able to manage your time wisely. And that is something I learned in college… my first year in college was fun. My life revolved in the thought of being free, away from the barriers in high school. I was so ready to embrace freedom and the rights that goes with it. Not thinking explicitly about the effects of my so-called freedom. I hungered for nights of going home late, partying, talking to someone over the phone at wee hours in the morning, living a life of a young adult. Education didn’t catch my attention that much. I was so overwhelmed with what I was experiencing at the moment that I wasn’t that much aware of the future. Then it hit me. College is my stepping stone to my future. What I do and what I won’t do here in my college days will be what I will become after I graduate. I decided to hold
