Ms. Macpherson was mistakenly given a paralyzing agent called rocuronium, instead of an anti-seizure medication called fosphenytoin. This incident caused her to stop breathing, go into cardiac arrest and lead to irreversible brain damage (CBS Interactive Inc., 2014).
