ladder are likely to stay there.” This shows how americans born low have a tendency to stay at the lower class rather than move up in the economy, but Americans who have wealth at the start have a better chance of achieving the American Dream because they already have it. There are people who do climb the economic ladder and achieve their Dream but they might work a lot harder to achieve it than others born higher.
Wealth is not so occurrent when it comes to African Americans. They are more likely to be stuck at the bottom of the economic ladder or close to the middle compared to whites. Jack Cafferty says “This study couldn't even measure black mobility in the upper income levels because the number was too small.” This shows how low the success rate is in comparison to whites in the United States. Americans have significantly higher wealth compared to African Americans, Hispanics, and people of other races. Race has its own part in the american dream, the percentage of blacks born in the lower class they are more likely to stay there compared to the amount of Americans born in the lower class. The gaps between blacks and whites when it comes to wealth is significantly different. African Americans are not given as many equal opportunities as others most of the time.
A good education is necessary most of the time to achieve the American Dream but education is America is no what its cut out to be in some cases.
Children who have parents that don't provide a good influence tend to pass on their bad habits which reflect in school work or their need to achieve in life. In some cases there are schools that don't teach children what they need to learn. Sam Blumenfield says “Despite universal compulsory attendance, we have millions of minority youngsters who spent years in public schools and were never taught to read or write and are relegated to lives of poverty in the inner cities.” How can we expect children to succeed and achieve their dream if they can't read or write? The only way they could achieve there dream is through hard work in school to help get them jobs one day. Kids Children that have these bad habits develop them from somewhere whether it be there parents or an elder and how they do in school affects their whole life. So these kids with bad living conditions dont have the same chance of there dream compared to kids born with wealth. The children with wealth have better schooling, and living conditions and their parents expect the best from them because they want their children to achieve what everything they
desire.
