American culture is unlike any other in the world. There are many things that make our culture so unique and diverse. From historic events to the very way the United States was started, American culture has changed many times throughout its existence, and it keeps changing every day. One of the reasons why our culture is so unique is that it has been influenced by every single other culture in our planet. The United States is one of the most diverse countries in history. From its start, America has attracted people from all parts of the globe. People that have brought different customs and culture with them to this country, and this led to American culture being a mix of all others that have affected it throughout its history.
In the reading, The Chinese in All of Us (TCAU), one of the important assertions made by the author Richard Rodriguez, is how much American culture has been influenced by other cultures. This is country that has people from all types of ethnicities and religions. People have immigrated to America since its start, and up to this day. The only thing that keeps getting different over time might be the places where the people settling here are coming from. In a typical American neighborhood you can find people from many different places outside of America. Depending on the type of neighborhood you live in you might find more people of one race than others, however there will always be diversity everywhere you go.
In his text Rodriguez makes the claim of how even though he is the son of two Mexican immigrant parents, who mostly spoke Spanish around the house, he always had a hard time identifying himself as any particular race. Rodriguez was affected by the diversity of this country, like everyone else that is living in it. He explains how everywhere you go you can see the impact that other cultures have had on our country.
