Amelia Caroline Eakins: Happiest Day Of Her Life
Her name is Amelia Caroline Eakins, and today was supposed to be the happiest day of her life.

(Meeting #1)

She’s in a rush to catch the bus to her aunt’s for her cousin Annie’s birthday, a plastic-wrapped package of home-baked cookies stacked upon another box containing a red hand-knit scarf in Annie’s favourite colour red in her arms. She think that she couldn’t possibly love Theo anymore than she already does, but every day he continues to prove her wrong.

There are times she imagines she can hear what he’s thinking from across the room. He’ll just turn to look at her, a tiny smile curling the corners of his mouth, and she’ll hear it.

(Theo: I love you, Amelia.)

Sometimes, there is no need to shout.

Someone: There’s been an accident.

Amelia:

Someone: You need to come to the hospital, quickly.

Amelia:

Someone: Are you listening, Amelia?
