No one was there to teach me how to do it. One of the reasons America is known is because of the opportunities they have and the support offered to people that come here for a better life and work hard for their dreams; however, this country does not support small businesses as much as they support the biggest ones.…

Canada is a nation built on immigration. While for many years, most immigrants were from European countries, the recent waves of immigration often include immigrants from South Asian, sub-Saharan and middle eastern countries. These recent immigrants do not have the same experience than the French, the Irish or the Italian earlier in the twentieth century. The reason for this is that they have a much different culture. In fact, integration is ‘easier’ in a western country is easier when one is christian and caucasian for instance. However, many recent immigrants are muslims, and are non-caucasian. These immigrants and refugees also often come from traditional societies. As a consequence, they come from societies where norms, values and gender…

The world that we inhabit today arguably revolves around a single object or rather multiple “objects”, this object being the almighty dollar. Through all of human history the want of power money and greed in human nature has been the driving force for many and it is safe to say that these values still occur today. The economical world has always been nigh all powerful, the rich omnipotent and the poor wretched, with a chasm dividing them. It is from this economical fissure that arises the issue of exploitation particularly that of immigrants. The declaration of independence, arguably one of the most important documents for all Americans today dictates several basic rights that every man should have. The right to liberty, the right to life and the right to the pursuit of happiness and it is these that America is founded on. These rights cannot and should not be impeded on by any person no matter the circumstance; and so it may come as a surprise to some when thousands – no millions of people, immigrants from foreign lands are exploited daily in their struggle to survive.…

Countless innocent people are being impacted by the current immigration laws: fortunately, organizations such as Northwest Seasonal Workers and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program are attempting to make a difference…
