All Summer Day
All Summer in a Day written by Ray Bradbury teaches us to not take our anger out on other people. All of the kids at the school were very mean to Margot for no reason. She did nothing to the kids, they got jealous beacuse she had seen the sun and remembered it. The kids also made fun of her for looking different, acting different and talking different.
The main pupose or theme of the short story is to not take your anger and jealousy out on others. One of the ways that the author shows this is when the kids are picking on Margot even from the beginning. Although all of the other kids had lived on the planet all their lives, Margot had lived in Ohio before coming to the planet, and remembered the sun clearly. All of the kids were jealous of the fact that she remebered the sun, they were cruel to her.
Margot was made fun of for being different also, she looked different, talked different and acted different than than the rest of her classmates. They made fun of her because they were so desperate and jealous for the sun and margot had seen it.
Margot told all of the kids that the sun was going to come out that day. They did not believe her and locked her in a closet for saying it. When they were sitting down, the rain started to stop and the sun started to shine. The kids ran outside playing in the sun having a good time. It eventually stopped and they went back inside and totally forgot about Margot.

They make fun of her all the time, calling her a he. They also talk about how her mother gotten a sperm donor, and Jack is not her actual father. “I couldn’t give your mum what she wanted more than anything.” (336). Most kids under twelve years old would not understand the more mature events that happen in this book.…

Have you ever felt like you are were alone, and nobody is listening to what you have to say? These are the feelings Margot was expressing. She was in a classroom, having a happy day about to see the sun, and then she was turned on, trapped in a closet. The short story and movie, “All Summer in a Day,” by Ray Bradbury and Ed Kaplan is a story of a child, living on Venus, named Margot that wishes she would see the sun again. Every seven/nine years it would come out, and Margot wasn't able to experience it, since she was trapped inside the closet. This was because Will was jealous of how she was able to see it when she was very little. Both stories are made off of the same idea, but are drastically different. Yes, there may be some similarities, but you see that there are plenty of differences. This is shown from all of the extra footage Ed Kaplan needed to add in. Such as in the ending, when it doesn't just show Margot leaving the closet like in the short story, but all of the kids feel so bad they gave her the flowers that they grabbed.…

The children are jealous of her. They are jealous because of many reasons. In the story there are many quotes describing how they felt toward Margot and why they were jealous of her “There was a talk that her father and mother were taking her back to earth next year; it seemed vital to her that they do so, though it would mean the loss of thousands of dollars to her family. And so, the children hated her for all these reasons of big and little consequences. They hated her pale snow face, her waiting silence, her thinness, and her possible future.”…

In the short story story “All Summer In A Day” By:Ray Bradvery, One theme that had a compelling connection to the short story in my opinion, Was that regret is the consequence of bad choices. This theme is shown in the text over the entire short story. Margot is a girl who is very frail and does not like to get in anyone's way. But that's what i think the boys don't like which fills them with erge, anger, and cruelty. The things that they do might not really affect them in that moment of time, and they might think it won't matter but then in the future regret is the consequence of the bad choices that you made. All that the innocent little girl wanted to see was the bright sun which is a rare occasion but when the boys put her in the closet…

However, they asked her to play with them, but she said no. Margot says, “It’s like a penny,” and then her classmates say, “No it’s not!”, then Margot keeps on going, “It’s like a fire, in the stove”, the children reply, “You’re lying, you don’t remember!”(Bradbury, 1954). Furthermore, this shows that her classmates don’t want her to be right because they are jealous of her. They are mean to Margot, because she is the only one with the memory of the sun. This is significant because jealousy clouds the children’s judgement. The children do more to hurt Margot…

One example of the other kids being cruel to Margot because of her differences is when they shun Margot and don’t include her. This is an example of the kids being cruel to her because of her differences because the other kids edge away from her, look away from her, and even just walk away just because she is from Earth. The story even states that “The biggest crime of all was that she (Margot) had just come here (Venus) only five years ago from Earth.” Another example is when the kids don’t are mean to Margot is when she reads her poem and they don’t believe her. There are many more examples of this in the story.…

She mentions how she acted in an immature way: changing her laugh when she was around boys, not speaking when men were (feeling inferior), laughing at every stupid thing the boys said, trying to look exactly the same as the “perfect popular girl” that the magazines describe by using expensive clothes, wearing the same makeup and hair, try to look physically the same by eating only an apple a day. She pretended to be another person, so she can feel accepted in society and looking appealing for…
