Thesis: In the novel Brave New World, the author Aldous Huxley uses science and technology such as Hypnopeadia, Centrifugal Bumble-Puppy, and Predestination to control people in the World State.

The form of communication is being lost with our friends and family. We find ourselves in a vitual world with the use of social media. Everyone wants the latest Apple product or Beats product. Technology is controlling everyone from what happens in the outside world, mostly everyone does not watch the news anymore. The advance of science and technology are affecting our mental and physical health. More people are becoming obese because of cell phone use or any kind of technology. People spend hours sitting down staring at phones waiting to get a text return. A study has been made in New York where average people were told to use their phones and what researchers found was surprisingly. People were tilting their necks to use their phones “putting 60 pounds of pressure on [their] necks.”(Huffington Post). With that happening more people are going to chiropractors and doctor offices. That’s exactly what some think medicine and doctors want, they want people coming in and wasting their money on medicines that really may or may not help cure neck pains. In the World State, it is prohibited to age and “that's because we don't allow them from diseases. We don't permit their magnesium-calcium ratio to fall below thirty”(). In destroying the aging process, science has eliminated a natural element of the human life. Mustapha Mond claims that old age is harmful for the World State population. Not only because of physical deficiency, but because of cognitive mastery.
The film “2081” and Brave New World have a lot of similarities. For example they both present complete government control through the use of exploitation. While both represent the idea of control, they demonstrate the meaning of community completely different. In Brave New World, civilians are controlled by the uses of hypnopedic training. Also, each person is predetermined where they will be for the rest of their lives. With that, anyone found with superior outside knowledge will not be accepted because of the World State’s
