Overview:

I have been asked to implement a system design for Acme Manufacturing, linking all their computers to each other with a (WAN). The WAN network has all the features that all are used to in the current LAN. With the WAN network, employees are able to connect to another network remotely. As a system designer, it is my privilege to implement such a design. This document will show the design system in detail, with a follow-up section for someone that may have a system design question. I hope everyone will find this document informative as well as instructive.

Introduction:

In this document, I will be showing how simple and useful the WAN is. The WAN is used like the LAN that most are used to using now, but are unable to connect to another location thru the Internet. Security is a big concern to most companies so I will be examining this network design in detail with the (WTLS) Wireless Transport Layer Security. This safeguard protects against an attack by monitoring computers settings in and around the network. With Acme the company is based in various locations geographically and expanding I will be showing how this WANS operates.

I. What I am faced with this system design:

a. Using the OSI Model

i. The purpose of using the OSI Model is to determine how data should be transmitted between two points in a network.

b. Security:

i. Setting up each router, switch and informing each employee with documentation

c. Video Conferencing

i. Weekly meetings will be held in the corporate conference room at headquarters

1. Each location will conduct video conferencing weekly

a. Locations in China, Phoenix, Chicago, and New York

d. New switches, wires, computers, printers, communication monitors

e. Telecommunicating

i. Each office will be communicating with each other from the boardroom globally.

f. Locations:

i. Acme Manufacturing has locations geographically in the following locations.

ii. Plant facility location China:

1. Needs to communicate with the distribution offices in Phoenix, Chicago, and New York

2. Needs to communicate with Headquarters in Atlanta Georgia

iii. Headquarters Location in Atlanta Georgia

1. Needs to communicate with the sales and engineering department across the street

2. Needs to network communication globally

II. Set Up Design

• Detailed information for the organizations on implementing the new network design. By using the latest in software technologies, the Microsoft office communication server2007 will be implemented in each of the new computers that the company will use. The importance of this setup is in the long run, will save the company a great deal of money and it will provide a better customer care ability for the employees.

• Setting up a security pass code for each router, in every office building.

• Setting up a switch with cables.

• Configuring each switch for multiple VLAN’s

o Connect each switch, and enable.

o Create a new VLAN

o Confirm the new VLAN

o Add ports to VLAN

o Set each port with spanning tree port fast

o Configure...
