ACADEMIC DIMENSION
All of us around the world have many very important activities, events, or experiences along our lives, which are kept in our minds as stories to remember forever. Some of them are sad and make us feel homesick and some are very happy that make us feel very exited; but In this essay I am going to tell you about my academic story by answering the following questions. What school did I attend? What was school like for me? What prompted me to consider teaching as a career? What does my academic future hold for me? And about what has been my most recent teaching experience? By answering these questions you will able to know about my academic story.
When I was a six year old boy, my parents enrolled me in a small but pretty elementary school called “Ciudad de Gualaceo”. It was a school where at least three hundred boys attended every single day. All of us had to wear a uniform which was a red jacket, a white shirt and a tie; blue pants and black shoes which made us look elegant. I had to attend school every single day very early in the morning. I grew up in a small neighborhood, which was around twenty minutes from my school, and since there were no buses in my town at that time, I had to run every day in order to be on time and not to miss my classes. After six years attending the elementary school, it was the time to switch to high school. When I was thirteen years old, I went to “Miguel Malo Gonzalez” high school where I studied for six years. I would say that it was a weird change because everything was different. For example, the teachers started calling me “Sir Gómez”. For the first time in my life, I was sitting among a bunch of girls since I had come from a school where all the students were boys; I was in an uncomfortable environment; however, it was part of the process only because after that, my life started to change. In spite of everything, I can say that I had many great experiences in high school.
When I was twenty six years old I decided to go to the University of Cuenca in order to study English Literature. The university is medium size where twelve thousand students attended every day to study different careers such as: Architecture, Engineering, Economy, Medicine, Arts, Philosophy, Education and others. The university is located about forty minutes from my town traveling by bus.
All the schools are nice and awesome, but for me “Ciudad de Gualaceo” was an amazing and special school in my childhood for many reasons. The two most important aspects are: my teachers and my friends. First, my school had very nice teachers who were always willing to help me with my problems at doing homework. They used to encourage me to keep studying. I can still remember my teacher, Maria Morales, who was like a mother to me. She used to call me “My boy”. Also, she said that I was very smart and that she was so proud of me because of my class work. That was so important for me because those words made me feel very good and confident as well. Another aspect why my school was very special is because I had a lot of friends who I played with. For example, they and I used to play soccer during break time and we always placed a bet for the winner of the game. That was funny because at the end of the match we were fighting each other because of the bet.
If a person is asked about one of the most wonderful experience in his or her life, I am sure that most of them refer to High school time and I would say the same for many reasons. I will write about two of them, adolescence and love. First, adolescence is a weird age where you start doing crazy things. For example I can still remember when my classmates and I filled the girls´ school bags up with a lot of stones. It was incredible to see all the girls taking out the stones from the bags; the classroom was full of the stones when they were taken out from the bags. Another reason why I would say that high school is wonderful, is because it is the place where you start feeling something for another person. I mean, falling in love with someone else. For example I remember that I met a beautiful girl whom I was in love with. We were boyfriend and girlfriend for a couple of years; however, we could not keep staying together because she moved to the states.
Being in the university was a totally different experience than that of being in high school. This is because I was twenty six when I decided to go there in order to study. I mean, I was a mature person at that time. However, I consider that I spent a terrific time for three reasons. I got a degree, I met my best friend Juan Pablo and I met the most important person in my life my wife. Now we have three awesome children.
In the year 2004, I became a teacher. I do not know why or how but I got involved in the education system. My first job as a teacher was in a private school where I had a very nice experience with my students and colleagues. I can say that my first good experience helped me to decide that I wanted to be a teacher forever. I realized that being a teacher I can help people not just in the academic area but also in different aspects of the students´ lives. For example, in the school there are many students who are going through many different kinds of problems there we as teachers have great opportunities to help them in making good decisions to improve their lives.
Nowadays English is considered the most important language around the world that is why a lot of people are trying to acquire and know about this important language. English is used in different areas such as, businesses, medicine, tourism, sports, and many others. For example, if a person wants to travel around the world just for pleasure, he needs to know at least basic English so that he can communicate with others since English is spoken in most of the countries as a basic language. This being said, I think that my academic future holds a lot of opportunities for me as a teacher and as a person as well.
I have been working as a teacher for ten years but my most recent work was in “Nacional Chordeleg High school”. It is a pretty public school, which is located in the urban area. Almost nine hundred students attend every day to receive classes. I have been working there for the last eight years with different grades, but before coming to the states I was working with freshman students. I would say that I had a nice experience working with them since they are very responsible and creative students. They have taught me a lot.
In conclusion, I have had a very exciting academic experience since I have been through different stages in my life learning as a student and teaching as a teacher. It is not just what you have learned and taught in the classroom but also what you acquired as a human being by sharing with many different people in different areas of their lives. I am glad to have this opportunity of being in the both sides of fence as a student and a teacher.

Only two of my classmates from Our Lady of Grace went to Castro Valley High School with me. So out of three thousand students, I literally only knew two. There were many changes that made me feel like an outsider at first. Having a different teacher for every subject, switching to different classrooms between periods, and using a locker were all new to me. Trying to adjust to these changes was even more difficult for me because everyone else at the school had been doing these things for years. I felt like I was the only one that was new to the public education system.…

From the minute I saw it, I knew that it was where I belonged, and I would do whatever necessary to make sure that I found myself there when it was time. It was so beautiful, so heavenly, so desirable. I knew that it would be the perfect place for me. I felt as though I would finally be able to “fit in.” I had never even met anyone from this place, but I could tell by the brochure – the one with all the photos of dance performances, musicals, and Cirque du Soleil acts – that I would be happy there, at the college-preparatory boarding and day school called Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School. I told my mom…

I went to Ansbach Middle-High School. The school was shaped like a rectangle, also all the housing around us were just really tall rectangles, and the military base itself was just a rectangle. Looking back, the environment around me was very depressing and boring. There was a max of 300 hundred students at my school and that was spread through grades 7th-12th. There was no majority ethnicity in the school, instead there was a multitude of races that attended every year. I attended the school through 7th-11th grade. Even though I went to school for 5 years I didn't have an impact until my last year there. 11th grade was the turning point for me. I got involved with a program at my school called the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). I joined this program at 9th grade and treated it as another class till my junior…

Rodriguez faces a few tensions in his personal experience such as being a "scholarship boy" as oppose to a well rounded student and and his life at home compared to a more friendly home environment. Rodriguez says that "I was a very good student, I was a also a very bad student. I was a scholarship boy, a certain kind of scholarship boy. Always successful, I was always unconfident. Exhilarated by my progress. Sad. I became the prized student - anxious and eager to learn. Too eager, too anxious - an imitative and unoriginal pupil." ( Rodrigues #283 ) Rodriguez describes himself here as imitating his teachers too much and being a perfect student instead of thinking for himself and taking in the knowledge he is given by his teachers and analyzing it and putting it to use. He is unoriginal and and uninteresting compared to a student who can use their knowledge in their own way and gets more involved. The other tension Rodriguez faces his the tension he has with his family, mostly his mother and father. At home his mother and father both support and encourage what he is doing very much but they didn't like the fact that he would always be in his room and the fact that the only thing he was involved with was school. "He permits himself embarrassment at their lack of education." (Rodriguez #286) This quote shows that Rodriguez's amount of knowledge of the english language and other subjects he had compared to his parents and therefore he was somewhat embarrassed by them and it created a tough home environment to live in because he didn't communicate much with his parents. This contrasts the home environment where their is a strong relationship between the family and their is communication.…

It is amazing to me to see how much I have accomplished since second grade. I feel as if the little girl who walked throughout the halls of Spanish Immersion, the girl who had little faith in herself to succeed, had changed into a mature, hard working young lady. In second grade I was partly depressed. I had felt as if life had no meaning. I struggled in school, and did not appreciate what was being taught. My mom suggested that I may have had dyslexia, but we were not certain that was the reason. It turns out, she was correct.…

The original purpose of this theory is to enhance understanding of the professional lives of teachers through a systematic framework which organizes their professional development plans and how teachers continually evolve - how they assess their roles in the classroom, their effectiveness as teachers and the steps they take in their career development (Huberman, 1989). The model is framed into seven career stages and potential trajectories (i.e. Survival and Discovery, Stabilization, Experimentation, Stock-taking, Serenity, Conservatism, and Disengagement) taken by teachers during the course of their work life. His study attempted to predict later phases of teaching from earlier ones, anticipating types of beginnings that led to career crisis or else predicting which teachers would report ultimate phases of satisfaction or disenchantment during the final years of teaching. He defined the three major phases in teachers’ life cycles, as: 1) novice 2) mid-career and 3) late-career, to which accordingly in each of these three main phases are crucial sub-phases to be highlighted. Each career stage is thought to be a crucial period in the teacher lifecycle, comparable to lifecycle stages of an individual; for instance infancy, toddler, pre-schooler, adolescent and so…
