Abortion Vs Pro Life Essay
There are two different viewpoints on abortion. Pro-choice and pro-life. Let’s start with the easy one. Pro-life means that a person is completely against abortion. The pro-life viewpoint is the belief that abortion is considered taking the life a human, which would mean that life begins at conception. People may have this viewpoint for religious values, or even their personal moral values, and believe that abortion for anyone is wrong. Pro-choice is a little bit harder to describe. It doesn’t mean pro-abortion, it literally concerns the word choice. People that are pro-choice believe that it is a person’s personal decision as to whether or not they get an abortion. Wade was a case that concerned whether or not it was a woman’s right to get an abortion. The case went all the way to the supreme court, where it was ruled that a right to privacy under the due process clause of the 14th amendment extended to a woman’s decision to have an abortion, but that right must be balanced against the state’s two legitimate interests in regulating abortions: protecting pre-natal life and protecting the health of the mother. It also said that abortion were legal during the first two trimesters of pregnancy, after that it becomes unsafe. So in other words, abortions were made legal, but individual states set rules and policies concerning it. I believe that this is fair. I do not think that individual states should be allowed to restrict abortions. If they were given this power, then I think that a great number of abortions would happen outside of the doctor’s office, which is incredibly dangerous to the mother, and the baby if unsuccessful. I also don’t think that it would make much difference to people. I’m sure that many people would just travel to other states in search of a safe and legal
