The title alone gives you the description of what the heroes are, abandoned. That pulls at your emotions right for the reason that no one likes to be abandoned. When 9/11 happened, we mourned for the those who had lost loved ones. As the story unfolded we felt feelings of invasion, anger, hurt, sadness, and fear all from one day of events. On the contrary, we also felt more unified as a country and hung our flags with pride. Needless to say, as those emotions subsided we didn’t think much about those involved in the aftermath of the events. We were more focused on the lives that were lost on 9/11 than the events that followed.
