A Well Behaved Kid Research Paper
I am generally a well behaved kid. I don’t get angry easy but one thing that makes me mad is when I get in trouble for something I didn’t do. In ninth grade I sat between two kids, Ryan and Danny. I knew Ryan he was one of my good friends but, he has ADHD so he liked to mess around. I didn’t really know Danny so he did not talk to me much. I sat between them in the corner. They talked constantly to each other. Ryan would also always tell me jokes at random times and he would laugh at his own jokes. Since I was between them, the teacher would just assume that I was also talking. Eventually he moved my seat into the middle of the classroom next to a student helper. I hated going to that class because I was constantly getting pissed off. On

Attributes that pertain to all stories are things such as beginning, middle, and end, characters, a plot, an author, and an intended purpose. So, why are some stories better than others? If every story consists of these components, why are we not moved by every novel we read? There are many things that distinguish bad, mediocre, good, and great stories. The function and the fundamental elements of masterpieces are quite different from just any other published book.…

This issue of Living in the West explores the love affair we have with the great American Cowboy. Call them cowhands, cowpoke, cowpuncher or buckaroos, billions of dollars have been spent chronicling their storied history. With his Stetson hat, sunburned face, weathered dungarees and boots of leather, the cowboy has gone from a ranch hand to a blue color icon. In fact, America’s love affair with the cowboy has been around longer than the name “cowboy” itself. But I’m taking a left turn here because when talking about the old west, the only thing America loves more than a Cowboy…is an OUTLAW. I’m not referring to some 13th century, tight wearing, black-death carrying, tunic sporting, pan-pipe playing aristocratic…

I on the other hand struggled with making friends, fitting in, and just adjusting to this new class. Caesar was influenced by Cathedral and Multrey to force Pancho Morrison into giving up his bottom bunk as a way of showing dominance and letting “him know who rules”(Cathedral, 77). Similar to how they convinced Caesar I was also convinced by my friend Gabe to bully a Chinese boy named Sam. I don’t blame my friend as much as I blame myself for carrying out all the verbal and physical abuse that we caused him. I can’t remember if I did it to seem cooler in front of Gabe or to show how tough I can be, but all I know is that I would regret it later on. During History class my teacher called out Gabe and me to report to the dean’s office. As we were leaving my teacher held the door open with the look of disgust and shame, I already knew what this was about, considering Sam wasn’t in the room. I was considered one of his better students and he would never look at me the same. The dean didn’t call our parents. Instead he had us apologize to Sam and gave us a warning that if either one of us continued harassing Sam that he would get the cops involved. I could try and play the “I was just a kid” card, but I knew what I was doing just like Caesar did when he assaulted Pancho. Ever since that…

The United States of America have a lot of flaws that people don’t necessarily realize on a day to day basis. Is this something that we feel and connect with on a intellectual and emotional level? The answer to that depends on who you are as a person. Every time we see an obese kid be picked on for being obese, do we feel bad for them, or do we say that it's the kid's fault. Many things go into this like, family income, lifestyle, physical ability and interests. These few reasons do not get enough attention, as most of it is shifted to starting in our schools. Most people don’t think about it this way but our lifestyles and actions everyday impact our overall health. Will you be the person to take the elevator, or the stairs? Childhood…

It is very important for adults who are responsible for children in there formative years to know this. Children are influenced by everything they see. This observation took place on Saturday October 17th at Town Center Corte Madera at approximately 2:00pm. The day was bright and sunny and the Mall was full of all kinds of parents and children. I choose a male child approximately 3 years old, wearing blue top and black pants with sponge bob square pants sneakers. The mother was wearing a yoga outfit as most mothers in Marin seem to wear these days. She was in her mid-thirties. Dad was also present, he wore a short sleeved Hawaiian print shirt with Khaki shorts and flip flops, and he too seemed to be in his mid-thirties. Where were most of your memories made in elementary school? Ask almost anyone, and their answer will be, “On the playground during recess!” Unfortunately, the youth of today may not have the opportunity to make those memories. As a result of the No Child Left Behind Act, more than forty percent of schools have reduced recess time, while seven percent have completely eliminated it from the school day (Pappas, 2011). With physical education only being offered to elementary students once a week, typically for forty minutes or less, recess is more important now than ever before. The absence of recess in schools will result…

Our children are so important and the idea that our schools don’t see that is a scary thought. Recess has been a way to allow our kids to connect with others socially, build new bonds through similar interest, exercise, and refresh after sitting in a stuffy classroom for so long. Students need recess because just like our muscles need rest time to build after a workout, so do our brains. If we are constantly cramming information in, our brain will become over worked and we will start to experience major health problems in our kids. It is even worse now a day because we have technology to battle with. Students are learning that play time is on an IPad or cell phone. They are losing a very valuable and influential time in their lives.…
