A Christmas Carol Movie Vs Book
The 1977 version of “A Christmas Carol” by BBC is a very accurate rendition of the book it was based on by Charles Dickens written in 1843. This movie comes with its strengths and weaknesses, most of its weaknesses coming from the quality of the film production and the movie’s strengths coming from it’s striking resemblance to the earlier made novel.
The short movie mirrored the book in so many ways that only really small details were left out such as Scrooge going to the tavern to get his dinner to bring home after work and waking an hour before the first spirit arrives. Also, on many occasions throughout the movie, the actors use direct dialogue from the book. Based on how much you liked the book will tell you how much you will like the movie

James Baldwin's Go Tell It on The Mountain is the story of a 14-year-old boy, John Grime, coming of age in Harlem under very difficult situations and little guidance. Through the course of the story John grows from a young boy struggling against himself and his wicked father that refuses to accept him, into a saved man of God who is able to go against what is out in the world. The story weaves in an out of the past and present, telling the stories behind the characters: Florence, John’s Aunt, Gabriel, John’s stepfather, and Elizabeth, John’s mother. This story is told through both a movie and a book and though they both have the same story line, there are also many differences. The movie at times strays away from some important topics that were discussed in the book.…

Movies and books are always different; in a movie you can show multiple characters, and in most books you're stuck in one character's narrative. For instance in the book The Giver the character Fiona doesn’t care about Jonas as deeply as she does in the movie. In the movie she stops her injections, and she starts to love Jonas. However in the book she only “enjoys having Jonas’s company”. In the movie she also helps Jonas steal Gabe before he is killed, and she is put in the community jail for helping him. Before she is going to be released she talks about how she has felt things. That she knows what it is like to truly feel, and in the book she isn’t this unorthodox.…

There are many differences between the movie and the book. First the positive points: This film attaches faces to Scout, Jem, Miss Maudie, and Dill, since no description of their faces is given in the book. Also, the film has some genuinely hilarious moments, particularly the scene where Scout is dressed as a ham and walking through the forest. Another good point is that the acting was superb and a treat to watch. Gregory Peck, who played Atticus, was captivating. The film is cast very well. The novel does not give physical descriptions of Scout, Jem, Miss Maudie, and Dill, but the film characters were believable. The actors look like what we would expect them to look like.…

For the live theatre show, I decided to watch “A Christmas Story, The Musical” directed by Valerie Easton at Vancouver Arts Club Stanley Industrial Aalliance Stage. The show focuses on a child named Ralphie, who wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.Valerie’s production captured the happiness and cheerful atmosphere during Christmas and also focus on emphasizing Ralphie’s desire of a BB Gun as his Christmas present. During the show, I was impressed by many design and technical production elements. For example, the quick changes, the adequate use of theatre stage and also the use of sets to change from fantasy and reality. However, the most striking elements to me are the set piece of Ralphie’s house and the sufficient use of rigging system.…

Both accounts have many similarities. For example, in lines 68 and 73 of the original story, The Grinch takes Christmas away from the villagers. The fury he has towards the holidays and The Whos’ can be displayed in his behavior in the film and on the original story. When The Grinch proceeds to take the Whos’…

Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet, theorist, and political specialist. He came from a long family line of politicians and was considered to be a part of the upper class. In contrast, Charles Dickens was an English writer and literary critic who came from a poor childhood with seven other siblings. His family moved to a small poor neighborhood outside of London called Camden Town when Charles was ten. This is where A Christmas Carol is believed to take place and Charles DIckens writing coincidentally began around the age of ten. These two incredible authors had completely different personal lives yet still have numerous parallels throughout their writing. Although five centuraries seperate these two works of literature, they were both inspired by hardships. During the early 1800’s Charles Dickens family struggled throughout the industrial revolution and his father was sent to jail in 1824 for excessive debt. In opposition, Dante Alighieri lived in Florence Italy and eventually married a woman chosen for him by his family because of political affiliation, but Dante had always had a deep love for a woman named Beatrice. Beatrice passed away from unknown causes which spun young Dante into depression - Three…

A major change made in this film is the arrival of the ghosts. This greatly differs from the novel. The ghost of Christmas yet to come has a hand of skin and does not speak but responds to scrooge in the form of an eerie metallic noise that evokes the screech of a cemetery’s gate. Although Marley’s ghost did appear, the ghosts wailing outside scrooge’s window were incognito. Scrooge’s fiancé, who eventually leaves him because of his misery ways, does not appear in the film, as were the two starving children Want and Ignorance who hid within the folds of the ghost of Christmas yet to come segment. In this production unlike the original story, Scrooge actually fires Cratchit rather than just threatening to do so. Unlike other portrayals on film, the cratchit’s Christmas Eve dinner is…

In A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a story festive Christmas story of Scrooge and his transformation from a greedy and spiritless miser to a cheerful and generous old man. The ghost of Christmas past takes scrooge back to his childhood to help him learn hope and generosity. The Ghost of Christmas present compares Scrooge to others, and helps scrooge learn gratefulness. The ghost of Christmas future shows Scrooge that he is doomed to die alone if he doesn’t change his ways and reach out to his fellow man.
