If we seem doubtful of the assumption that one is morally upright simply because he or she has a career in medicine, we are struck with a seemingly viable counterargument: all doctors must take the Hippocratic Oath in which they “solemnly” swear to “uphold a number of professional ethical standards” (www.nlm.nih.gov). If we still remain unconvinced as to the universal rectitude of all clinicians, we are belittled and then told that doctors do have our best intentions in mind, as they spent years and countless amounts of money thoroughly studying every aspect of the human body. For why would anyone spend 12 years and half a million dollars for any other reason than to carefully heal and nurture the body of his fellow man? Most of the time, our reliance on “authority heuristics” is rewarded as it is noted that the “majority of physicians” take the words of Hippocrates to heart and refrain from “abus[ing] their patients” (Pesta 4).…

Emily Parks Alexander AP Language 11 March 2024 Medical Ethics Synthesis Science and medicine is the most rapidly advancing facet of human knowledge, and has been since the Scientific Revolution. Informed consent, humanization of patients, and proper compensation of individuals who influence medical advancement, are the most crucial aspects of medical ethics regulations in today's world. Comparatively, informed consent and similar…

Isn’t it quite amazing to find such talent in our 40th President of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan? Not only has he successfully had careers in acting, televising, and governing the state of California, but he has also managed to become a successful president. During his presidency he has managed to up-lift states’ rights around the nation, giving them their own choices in how to spend their grants. By consolidating grants into block grants, he was successfully capable of giving states the chance to do so. While this decision had negative effects, it was also very beneficial to some aspects of the states.…

Othello - The play’s protagonist and hero. A Christian Moor and general of the armies of Venice, Othello is an eloquent and physically powerful figure, respected by all those around him.
