How To: Convince Your Parents to Buy You Something

We all have that one thing that we REALLY want that our parents just won’t buy; I mean, not something crazy like a car, a gun, or a pet snake. I mean something like a phone, a new bike, a computer, or even a video game. These are things that we can work or even negotiate for. I will be instructing you on how to negotiate or convince your parents to buy or get you something that you’ve been wanting. This will be done using 5 easy steps!
Step #1: Good Behavior
This is one of the most important steps, because it’s pretty much common sense. You can’t walk around acting stupid, being mischievous, getting into drama; and then expect your parents to buy you something that you haven’t worked for or earned. You MUST be good and go the extra mile to impress them because, remember, you want something from them. This will work really well if you’re a problem child, and you’re always in trouble, because it will be unexpected, and they will be proud of you and your effort.
Step#2: Who is The Beneficiary?
Who is benefitting from this item? Of course you are the most because you want it; so try to incorporate your parents in some kind of way. For example: “Hey mom, can you get me this new nail polish? It’s a really great color, and would look great on both of us!” Give them another reason to buy the item. If they want it too, there’s a better chance of getting it! Try to make them feel like they need it or would just be better off with it instead without.
Step#3: Don’t Beg Whatever you do, don’t beg. Begging is one of the worst things you can do when you really want something, (unless your parents are push-overs and surrender after begging). Begging is not good because it will either annoy or make them mad. If you make them mad by constantly bugging them they REALLY won’t buy what you want. There is one exception to bugging your

I grew up in a decently well off family when it came to money. I did not have to worry about getting a job at a young age, but I was never handed everything in life. I had to work for it whether it be through chores or through owing money back for what I wanted to get. My father lost his job several times while I was growing up. This was because either a company was shutting down or because he would refuse to cheat in order to make money. This was hard on our family and because my mom was a pre-school teacher, there was not a lot of money coming into the house as I became older. I mentioned several times to my parents about getting a job and they were neither for it nor against it. If I wanted a job I could get one, if I did not want a…
