To maintain a commitment to professionalism in childcare you should set a goal for yourself. My goal in my classroom is to set a standard of excellence with in my facility and to commit myself to the growth and development of each child in offering a positive, kind, loving, and safe atmosphere. I have respect, not only for myself but, for my center, each child, and their families. I keep all parental information shared with me confidential. I also uphold all health and safety regulations and make children's well-being my top priority. I remain trustworthy to children parents and staff at the center. I also respect family diversity. This includes but is not limited to cultural differences, orientation, or economic status. I encourage individuality in children. I treat each child with respect and help them to build a positive self- image. Being informed is being ready to assist any child with any need they may have. I feel it is important to always stay positive and keep a smile on your face. Stay on top of new regulations for your center as well as updated laws and other developments within early childhood education. Always make sure you have information to help parents that have children with additional needs your center cannot provide and have contact information readily available for the reporting of any sexual abuse, child abuse, or neglect. I feel I am a kind and loving person and am genuinely concerned about the growth and development of each child entering my center. I want to give them every opportunity to grow and learn in a safe environment. I love working and being around children not just in a group setting but also a one on one setting.…

Another staff member may tell you confidential information to help you understand the needs of a particular person to enable you to provide more effective support. Whether it is a parent or colleague who shares this information you must not disclose the information. However if you think an individual is at risk or in danger you may decide to pass this information on but you should explain that you have to put the needs of the child first. Every family has a right to privacy and you should only pass on information in the genuine interests of the child or to safeguard their welfare. Sharing…

Upon discussing with both the local elementary school administrator and the director of the Pre-K program on how they advocate the treatment of abuse to children. I discovered that in identifying and reporting mistreatment of children is very vital in preventing further or long-term harm. When school officials identify abuse they have a duty to report and follow the procedures and guidelines that are implemented in the school district policies. Georgia law requires schools system faculty, staff and volunteers who have reasonable cause to suspect a child is abused or neglected to report this to the proper authority. The system faculty and staff must understand their obligation to report the suspicion or allegation, yet they are not to investigate or decide the validity of the suspicion or allegation. In fact, it is required by each state that all professionals that work with children are to report any suspicious abuse. www.childwelfare.gov…

Naomi demonstrated that she was an advocate of social justice cases. When she provided support to an educator who mentally disadvantaged, Naomi worked with the educator to set realistic goals and strategies. She also displayed empathy to families who conversed with her regarding personal financial struggles and offered assistance in a payment plan. McCrea (2002) believes a leader should exhibit advocacy for a setting by being open to changes. By Naomi using her leadership role to provide security to children, educators and families (Press, 2012 as cited in Hard, Press & Gibson, 2013), she is able to assist and guide as an advocate for social justice in the early childhood…

The training says to not tell the parent because if child welfare investigators are assigned then the parents having the knowledge can affect their investigation. I have heard in the past that professionals were encouraged to sit down with the parent, if the allegation was directly from the parents report, and make the call to the child abuse hotline together. I have never done this but the training makes me weary about offering this in the future because I do not want to impede an investigation. It is usually the case that when I have to make a report to the child abuse hotline that the parents spend time trying to investigate who made the call. At this point it is difficult for me to know what to do. If I tell the parent then we could lose rapport or have a damaged professional relationship. I prefer to be honest but I do not see how that information will be helpful. What I do explain, in these situations, is the fact that I am and the others on the treatment teams, the doctors and other professionals are all mandated reporters and I use it as a teachable moment with the…

There are several organizations for each professional for example: teachers, social workers, accountants and business owners just to name a few. Then there are sororities and fraternities which consist of all of these professionals in one melting pot. The professional organization which I will describe in the paper is the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). As an employee in a Child Care Facility being apart of this organization can help improve my career if I choose to become the director in a few months. The following paragraph describes the history of the organization and what it has done for the early childhood program. As a mother of 5 with 4 attending school in the public school system this organization is in the public eye and moving forward with efforts to improve the early childhood system and help teachers, parents and congress to understand how important our children 's education should be to us. I can join this organization and help to change laws that can have an impact for not only my children but also grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the children that attend my Childcare facility my eyes could be open to new information, meeting people from all aspects of life at the national meetings and even go to Washington DC to help influence them to increase the funding, or make changes to existing policies regarding early childhood education.…
