3 Day Chemical Breakdown Diet Analysis
One diet that could be considered a fad is the “3 Day Chemical Breakdown Diet”. The claims being are that the food being eaten in this diet is chosen in a unique way with unique combinations to chemically react and breakdown fat without exercising. Also, they Claim that one can lose up to 10 pounds in just 3 days. These are not considered as valid claims for many reasons. I have tried this diet and I know what they tell us to eat. They make us eat between 700 and 1000 calories maximum, so even without any chemical reactions, one will lose weight because of the sudden drop in calories. According to Lampert, Lynda who is a nurse and a medical writer specializing in medical, healthcare and nursing articles, “Many negative side effects come

This paper will discuss an article published in Time.com (2007, March) by Lindsey Tanner, explaining a recent research study which found that the Atkins diet beat three other diets for weight loss over a one year period. The actual research study appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on March 21, 2007. Though the findings revealed greater weight loss for the Atkins participants, this paper will discuss the reasons why the study may be flawed, and its results not appropriate for making inferences regarding the public at large.…

    3-Day Diet Analysis

My current diet is a complete disaster. Because of my work schedule, I don’t get up until around 11:00am, so when I do wake I have a cup or two of orange juice which is what I consider to be my breakfast. On the way to work, I grab a hamburger and soft drink. Also, I sometimes skip the soft drink and get a Monster energy drink if I am still tired from the night before. I have to put Devion on the bus in the morning which leaves me very sleepy most days, so I use this as an excuse to grab the energy drinks to make it through each day. My day at work is really boring, so, my co-worker and I sit and eat to actually entertain ourselves throughout the day. One of my major obstacles will be to ignore her when she offers me some foods or snacks because she really likes to eat several different snacks throughout the day. She really gets offended if someone turns down her offer for a snack, but, I would really like to lose some of this weight.…

The diet I chose to look at was the 4 Hour Body Diet by Timothy Ferriss. Ferriss is also the author of the #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The 4-Hour Workweek. More recently, he wrote the upcoming release of The 4 Hour Chef that is being banned from bookstores nationwide. I stumbled upon this book one day when I was browsing the internet for new and interesting ways to lose weight and Ferriss’s book caught my eye. Just reading the first page enticed me to read more. The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman, I thought to myself this has to be the biggest joke ever. I picked up the book and just reading the first page made me laugh “how to lose 20 pounds in 30 days (without exercise) on the uber simple Slow- Carb diet. At this point I just had to buy the book to see what crazy fad diet had just befallen me. when I got home the first page alone was disturbing Tim was describing how he just consumed almost two full-size barbecue chicken pizzas and three handfuls of mixed nuts, for a cumulative total of about 4,400 calories. That was only his fourth meal of the day breakfast having consisted of two glasses of grapefruit juice, a large cup of coffee with cinnamon, two chocolate croissants, and two bear claws. only 72 hours later testing his progress with an ultrasound analyzer his body fat had dropped from 11.9% to 10.2% in only 14 days. So what is Tim’s secret, he claims it is his little rules…

The main topic of interest in “Our National Eating Disorder” by Michael Pollan's, is that the question “What are we having for dinner?”, has evolved with the world. The quality of food and the intake of food has changed immensely from many years ago. Back in the day, you could not go to get a pre-cooked chicken at your local supermarket, you would have to do the hunting on your own. Now we have evolved so drastically to have organic meat, now the new fad in right now is everything organic or gluten free. The topic of crazy diets was very true, as I see it all around me at school and home. He uses specific examples such as the atkins diet, that my mother tried because my cousin Phil lost 60 pounds while doing it. I do like his point on other…

My current eating habits are not very good. I am well aware of this, and my excuse is that I am a father of two that works full time, attends online college part time, has a dad that is very medically involved and children that are in sports, and I have recently joined a gym that I try to attend three nights a week. My life is very rushed and busy all the time.…

According to the food pyramid, my diet is horrible considering what I have consumed in these 3 days. It shows that I need to start eating more, and better quality foods. My sugar intake is too high and should be reconsidered. Possibly I could swap out processed sugars for natural sugars; such as in fruit. It is obvious from the records I have provided that I do not take in as much (if any) fruit that one should be consuming on a daily basis. Thus, not only am I depriving myself of vitamins, I am also depriving myself of the fiber needed in order for my digestive system and metabolism to work as necessary. I will have to incorporate more whole grains with fruit and vegetables to act as roughage, as going to the bathroom proves difficult for me- most likely this is why.…

    Sensa Diet

The fad diet I chose was the Sensa Diet. It consists of sprinkling either a sweet or salty powder onto your food before you eat it with the intention of reducing the persons appetite, or making them feel fuller. The Sensa website states that by intensifying the smell, the SENSA® Tastants will make you feel full and more satisfied. 1. The sprinkles are sodium-free, sugar-free, calorie-free and gluten-free. Sensa does contain lactose, maltodextrin and carmine which are ingredients that may cause allergic reactions to some people.[1] With this diet, I found a lot of descriptions stating that you would not have to change the way you ate or exercised and that by just using sensa, weight would come off. [2] In a clinical study of Sensa, 1,436 participants lost an average of 30.5 pounds over a six-month period without changing their usual diet and exercise routines. [3] Three good components of a good exercise program are nutrition, exercise and modification of behavior. In this diet, theres no mention about changing the foods you eat or adding an exercise plan. Fad diets shouldn't just be about losing weight, they should also make sure that people are getting the proper nutrients they need and including exercise as part of their routine because of all the added benefits it can bring also. The sensa website states that all the ingredients are generally regarded as safe by the FDA and that there are no stated side effects.[1] I looked through reviews of the Sensa diet on Amazon and found possible side effects mentioned which include increased blood pressure, diarrhea and constipation. [4] Overall, this is not a good diet to follow because it does not have much proof that it works, it is not nutritionally better because it does not encourage better eating habits or exercise and most of the reviews stated that the sensa diet did not work for them.…
