My name is Bianca. I am in my early twenties and I would have never expected to attend college. One of the major reasons why was cause I had no career in mind and that discouraged me the most. I took a break after high school not understanding the importance of college. I then started working different jobs in the retail and food industry struggling to find a career that I would have enjoyed doing. One day I had this realization that I shouldn’t settle with myself in having no degree and a low paying job I wasn’t going to enjoy. Once I started working with dogs, I re-found my childhood love for animals. I absolutely loved working with them and learning more about dogs. I then decided to become a veterinary technician and attend college full time. My boyfriend was proud of me; he knew I had a passion for animals. My family and friends thought it was pretty cool; my friends always had asked me for advice as well as gave me any unwanted pets to care for. So finally I enrolled myself in school to get a degree in veterinary technician. I made sure I would have to do my part in putting time to study and do each and every assignment successfully. A year into school and now having a full time job at a veterinary hospital, when I get home my day hasn’t even been finished yet. With a dog living at home, I must provide her with love and attention. I also must take her on short walks around our neighborhood and of course feed her dinner. My dog must also get her teeth brushed and take vitamins to prevent any health issues as she ages. Before my boyfriend gets home, I get our dinner for the evening started. I also do some household chores around the house including laundry and vacuuming the carpets. I then check our calendar to see if there’s any upcoming bills or payments that are due. Once a month I travel down 3 hours to the city to visit my family and friends. It’s usually just for the weekend when I visit so you can imagine how very little time I have to fit everyone in.

I enjoyed reading this case study because it is always more interesting to hear first hand reasoning from actual interviews with audit partners, rather than hearing about someone else’s opinion about it. However, sometimes the auditors could be a little bit biased against any new legislation that changes the way they have to conduct an audit. Overall I agreed with their general consensus, that increased partner rotation means greater independence which would increase overall audit quality. However, forced rotation also means that once an audit partner gets to know a specific company very well and is able to perform the audit more efficiently, they are forced to leave which causes the new partner to come in and start from scratch. Another thing I had never really considered with regards to this rule was the fact that audit partners’ personal lives are affected by this new rule. If they are assigned to an engagement in a new city, which seems to be often from what I read in the article, their quality of life and family dynamics are negatively affected (which ultimately can come back and affect work performance, in any occupation.) The demographic data that was presented in this article really opened my eyes and was extremely interesting to see the actual effects of this new law. In the end, as tough as it is to have to relocate their families and their homes, there is no trade off for independence and quality audits. Even though it is sad that it has to affect the partners’ quality of life, it is a sacrifice that I feel they should have to make, as part of a professional work ethic and as part of their duty to the users of financial…

Isn’t it quite amazing to find such talent in our 40th President of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan? Not only has he successfully had careers in acting, televising, and governing the state of California, but he has also managed to become a successful president. During his presidency he has managed to up-lift states’ rights around the nation, giving them their own choices in how to spend their grants. By consolidating grants into block grants, he was successfully capable of giving states the chance to do so. While this decision had negative effects, it was also very beneficial to some aspects of the states.…

Daisy is The Great Gatsby's most enigmatic, and perhaps most disappointing, character. Although Fitzgerald does much to make her a character worthy of Gatsby's unlimited devotion, in the end she reveals herself for what she really is. Despite her beauty and charm, Daisy is merely a selfish, shallow, and in fact, hurtful, woman. Gatsby loves her (or at least the idea of her) with such vitality and determination that readers would like, in many senses, to see her be worthy of his devotion. Although Fitzgerald carefully builds Daisy's character with associations of light, purity, and innocence, when all is said and done, she is the opposite from what she presents herself to be.…

Life has been a bit busier and slightly more challenging since starting online college. Firstly, I wake up every morning at around 7:30am and immediately let my puppy out from her kennel and take her downstairs to then go potty outside. While she’s outside doing her potty duties, I begin to fix a drink and take my vitamins before going back outside to take care of more puppy duties. Afterwards, I fix breakfast and eat whatever I choose to eat for that day. Most of the time it’s either toaster strudels or chocolate chip waffles that I decide to cook in the toaster oven. Once I finish eating, then the puppy and I go back upstairs and I put her in the kennel while I get a shower and ready for the day ahead. Which is a process in itself, from taking the actual shower to fixing my hair, brushing my…

College? Is something I think about everyday. Where do I want to go? How do I get started. By taking the next step in furthering my education, I've come to a decision. For the past year, I have been interested in attending Florida Southern College. It's the school I want to attend. I have been thinking about college since I was in middle school and thinking about what I want to pursue as my career. Let's face it, I love animals more than I love people. I have always enjoyed the presence of animals because they have a way of cheering me up. When I see them hurt I always want to help. My love and affection for animals became more prevalent since I've found my first animal. There was this one cat that impacted my life forever. When I was little, we…

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is recognized as the final stage of a viral infection caused by Human Immune-deficiency Virus (HIV); therefore AIDS is indicative of an underlying cellular immune deficiency (Birchall & Murphy, 1992). It was first detected among homosexuals and drug users in the USA in 1981. Since then the disease has now spread to all the corners of the world. Two strains of HIV are recognized by medical experts: HIV -1 (discovered in 1983) and HIV-2 (discovered in 1986). HIV-1 is generally accepted as the cause of most AIDS cases throughout the world while HIV-2 was first discovered in West Africa and later in some Portuguese colonies and Europe and account for the infection in West Africa. Three modes of transmission are generally identified: sexual, blood contact and mother-to-child. Sexual transmission could arise from heterosexual (man-to-woman or woman-to-man) and homosexual (man-to-man) relationships. Consequently having unprotected sex (vaginal, anal or oral) with an infected person could result in exchange of body fluids. Concurrent multiple sex partners, low level male circumcision and inconsistent and incorrect condom use have been identified as the predominant risk factors that have made escalation of HIV infections in Africa difficult to stem (SAD C, 2006; Halperin & Epstein, 2007)…
