Did you know that the London Zoo is run by the Zoological Society of London which is a charity devoted to conserving wild animals and where they live? There are many different viewpoints to whether or not zoos should exist, mostly because of the animal’s well being, but in this argument the pros outweigh the cons. Many people argue that zoos are very beneficial to society and that they should not close their doors.
There are countless opinions as to why people are opposed to zoos. Firstly, zoos have a negative effect because of the animal captivity. Animals are brought out of their natural habitats and put into cages which are unnatural to them. Additionally, zoos have lots of wild animals that could possibly harm people. All of the animals in zoos are not animals typically allowed as pets and can be very dangerous. Finally, zoos are expensive. Along with buying admission tickets people also have to factor in the price for food, drink, and souvenirs. Primarily, even though the animals in zoos are captivated they are still very well taken care of. Zoo keepers regularly feed and take care of all the animals in the zoo and make sure every animal is safe and healthy. Secondly, zoo keepers are properly trained to work with animals. Zoo keepers are trained specially to deal and handle the animals in the safest way for both the animals and humans benefit. Thirdly, all though zoos are expensive they are a great experience. People can see animals that they do not normally get to see everyday where they live. They get to learn about animals around the world without visiting those places.
