Politics, in the broadest sense, is the activity through which people make, preserve and amend the general rules under which they live. So no one is out of politics in society and politics is in our way of life. On the other hand, media in the 21st century continues to perform its three main traditional functions---to inform, educate and entertain. So, politics is a great source of information for media in order to inform us and a great topic to educate us. Therefore, politics is an integral part of media to be presented.
Media is sometimes referred to as "the fourth estate", and is seen by some as being crucial to the functioning of a healthy and fair society. In democratic societies, the role of the media is supposed to be to inform people the political activities of politicians so that they can make educated choices. The role of politicians is supposed to be to represent those who elected them and to ensure that the concerns of that electorate are listened to, considered and, where appropriate, acted upon.
In such a political system, media act on behalf of the common people to ensure that politicians do their job. Media explore and cover the issues that most concern their readers, viewers and listeners. They include a diversity of voices and political opinions in order to offer the richest and most complete coverage possible.
The media has immense power within societies because about most of the people get their news from the media rather than from other people or other sources. Media coverage shapes how people perceive the world and what they consider to be important. Voters and politicians alike must pay attention to the media.
