Reflective Consolidation Paper
Introduction:

“The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It 's got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion.” — Theodore Hesburgh, President of the University of Notre Dame. In the beginning of this course I was frightened by the work load of weekly discussions, discussion modules, papers due the same week as modules, but I completely enjoyed every minute of it. Yes that opening sentence is extremely long, but it is consistent with the course workload. This course is very business healthy and organized with an approach of reinforced course work load to keep us in tune with the topics of leadership. The book for the course is very detailed as well and is consistent with the lectures and modules. I will go into detail about the information that benefits my professional outlook for leadership and following that will be my opinion personal leadership skills. All in all, the course is designed to provide professionals and managers with a broad understanding of leadership concepts, theories and the skills necessary for practicing leadership in the global economy. The course focuses on a variety of techniques/applications for assessing leadership competencies and generating actions plans for applying leadership skills. It Emphasize on the requirements for effective leadership in multi-cultural organizations and the development of personal leadership skills.
In my reflective consolidation paper I will discuss about three insights that I found most valuable for my professional leadership development. These include the optimism. Being able to adapt to your followers is another important insight I gained from my leadership course and from my book critique on "Success for the New Global Manager. How to Work across Distances, Countries, and Cultures".

For centuries there have been leaders and people have debated what makes a great leader. Leadership goes back to the time of the ancient Greeks. During the 1500’s, there was an Italian statesman Niccolo Machiavelli, who wrote The Prince, which he described methods for leaders to use in acquiring power (Leadership 2003). This all led to the recent activity dating to the early 1900’s and what has been developed and used in today’s society. There are many theories of what a leader should possess and the fact that leaders throughout history have been men who were looked up to as leaders and well respected. This paper discusses the history of leadership, diversity between men and women in leadership and some laws and thoughts of what makes a successful leader well-qualified.…
