INTRODUCTION

ADVANTAGES AND RATIONALE OF OJT PROGRAMS

On-the-job training focuses on the acquisition on skills within the work environment generally under normal working conditions. Through on-the-job training, workers acquire both general skills that they can transfer from one job to another and specific skills that are unique to a particular job. On-the-job training typically includes verbal and written instruction, demonstration and observation, and hands-on practice and imitation. In addition, the on-the-job training process involves one employee usually a supervisor or an experienced employee passing knowledge and skills on to a novice employee. On-the-job training is the oldest form of training. Prior to the advent of offsite training classrooms, the only practical way of learning a job was working along the side an experienced worker in a particular or profession—as evinced by the practice of apprenticeship during the Middle Ages when master craftsmen passed on skills and knowledge to novices who worked alongside them. Numerous studies indicate that it is the most effective form of job training. The largest share of on-the-job training is provided by the private sector, though the most widely studied training programs are those sponsored by federal legislation. On-the-job training programs range formal training with company supervisions to learning by watching. In this sense, the most formal types of on-the-job training are distinct from classroom training in that they take place within the firm.

CHAPTER I

SCHOOL PROFILE

COMMUNITY COLLEGES OF THE PHILIPPINES FOUNDATION The Community Colleges of the Philippines Foundation (CCPF) began from the very humble vision of its Founders, who wanted to provide access to quality education with the lowest cost without discrimination. It started with the opening of its operation last February 2009 under the Asian Pacific Community Colleges Foundation (APCCF). The school housed at the 3rd Floor of ECP Building, along Del Pilar Street, Cabanatuan City.

NEW SCHOOL LOCATION

Last June 2010, CCPF Management was able to transfer to its new location after series of negotiations with the Diocese of Cabanatuan. The College now houses at the Cathedral Compound, occupying the left-wing of the old CIC building. The development opened the new challenge to CCPF in fulfilling its objectives of providing Quality education in a more real campus set-up and secured environment. CCPF’s transfer to its new location has paved the way for the ultimate possibilities of maximizing the potentials of the students.

Provide a useful venue and harmonious relationship among parents in constantly undertaking programs for their welfare and development and other ways of mutual supports 3. STUDENT DISCIPLINE In all disciplinary cases, a charge must be made in writing and the student(s) concerned must be provided with a copy of the written charge. The offense shall be punishable when committed on-campus, during duly authorized off-campus activities, or at any time the student is in school uniform, or has represented himself or herself as a student of CCPF. The College Dean shall conduct a conference wherein the charge and defense shall be proven. Parents or guardians concerned shall be notified of the conference. The conference shall be machine recorded, and a transcript may be made available on request of the parties.

The College Dean shall be responsible for deciding all disciplinary cases. Any decision shall be based on proof presented at the conference. The Dean shall determine the duration/ of the punishment, taking into consideration damage to persons and property, the character of the student, and other circumstances. The decision of the College Dean in disciplinary cases involving minor and less grave offenses shall be final. Decisions in disciplinary cases involving grave offenses may be appealed to a disciplinary committee created for the appeal, and headed by the School President Decisions of the disciplinary committee shall be final.

Aside from these investigative and judicial powers, and when warranted for the protection of persons and property, the Dean may place students in preventive suspension. Such preventive suspension shall not be deemed a punishment.

OFFENSES

MINOR OFFENSES are punishable by oral or written Reprimand (1st offense), Suspension (repeated offense or commission of more than one type of offense) or Dismissal (repeated offense or commission of more than one type of offense). They are: * Disruption of classes and school activities through loud noises and unruly behavior * Incomplete or improper wearing of uniform, including IDs * Loitering on campus after 9:00 p.m. * Littering, including water wastage * Gambling, betting or engaging in any form of game of chance * Smoking, distribution of cigars or cigarettes * Possession of intoxicating substances * Possession of pornographic material in any form * Swearing, cussing or use of foul language * Unauthorized use of school name or uniform *
LESS GRAVE OFFENSES are punishable by Suspension (1st offense) and Dismissal (repeated offense or commission of more than one type of offense). In addition to the proper punishment, cheating or plagiarism shall be punishable by a failing mark in the academic requirement. They are: * Cheating or Plagiarism * Defamation (written or oral)

* Fighting or Inciting to Fight * Forgery/Misrepresentation in accomplished school documents * Gross disrespect of school authorities, faculty or staff

* Intoxication * Lewd or obscene behavior (ex. display of private body parts, French kissing, necking) * Possession of deadly object other than firearm * Petty Theft of Property not exceeding P1,000 in value * Threat to inflict harm on persons * Vandalism * Forcible Entry into restricted areas

GRAVE OFFENSES are punishable upon first commission of an offense, by Dismissal or Expulsion. They are: * Assault against school authorities/faculty/staff/student, including Hazing * Bribery of school authorities/faculty/staff * Immorality (ex. pre-marital sex, cohabitation, patronage of places of ill-repute) * Possession/use/distribution of dangerous drugs * Possession/use of firearm * Theft of Property exceeding P1,000 in value * Arson (regardless of extent of damage) * Theft or Tampering with School Records

D U T I E S A N D R E S P O N S I B I L I T I E S OF S T U D E N T S
1. To respect the inherent dignity, worth, individuality and rights of other members of the school community.
2. To maintain his maximum level of academic achievement.
3. To recognize and know individual and cultural differences and to use these differences in improving the school and the society.
4. To preserve school property, exercise care in using them.
5. To cooperate willfully with the parents, the administration and the faculty in their efforts to help improve himself.
6. To know, observe and abide by all policies, rules and regulations of the school.
7. To uphold the integrity, the good name, and the ideals of the school.
8. To develop and undertake a social commitment if he is to assume some responsibility to and for the school and society.

P O L I C I E S O N C A M P U S A C T I V I T I E S

1. Club membership should be required.
2. Students may join only in one club. Membership in more than two clubs may be discouraged if it adversely affects a student’s academic performance.
3. Student activities should not distract students from studies but should instead enhance academic formation.
4. Recruitment of members starts during the second week after the school opens and lasts for a period of two weeks thereafter.
5. The organizations should meet once a month. A complete set of minutes of monthly meetings must be submitted to the OSA at the end of every semester.
6. The College prescribes for organization fees subject for the minimum required activities in the given semester.. All assessments and fund-raising activities shall be subject to the approval of the OSA, the College Dean, and the Administration. Unauthorized assessment, collection or fundraising shall be penalized by revocation of recognition, removal from officership or membership, and disciplinary sanction. The school and its employees are prohibited from collecting and handling any funds from students, under pain of dismissal. Hence, the school and its employees shall not be responsible for any loss suffered by students due to unauthorized or misappropriated collections.
7. Student organizations that are planning activities that require the collection or use of funds must secure approval of their proposed budget from the OSA, prior to the activity. An

9 organization may collect and maintain funds for its activities an amount not exceeding Ten Thousand Pesos (P10, 000) at all times. After the activity, a full report of all collections and disbursements made shall be submitted to the OSA.
8. No student shall solicit membership, nor directly or indirectly aid in the formation of any society, association or organization amongst fellow students without previous permission from the OSA.
9. No meetings, conferences, picnics or any non-classroom activity of any kind may be conducted by ANY organization (recognized or unrecognized) without prior written approval from the OSA.

S C H O O L U N I F O R M A N D I D E N T I F I C A T I O N C A R D S

Students are advised that wearing the uniform is an important part of their schooling as it is a symbol of the ties that bind our school and our students — our names, our image and reputation are joined in the eyes of the community. Furthermore, a student’s personality and school discipline are reflected in how the uniform is worn. Let us gain confidence from wearing neat and clean uniforms. Lastly, the school uniform and identification cards are important tools in ensuring the safety and security of our students. The complete uniform distinguishes bona fide students from strangers. Students who wear their proper uniform with identification cards are deemed duly enrolled, and are thus allowed to enter the campus. Conversely, those not in proper uniform OR without identification cards are not allowed to enter the campus.

CCPF OBJEECTIVES
Department of Information Technology 1. To produce qualified and well-rounded computer professionals who can develop systems supportive of the information needs of industry and government using the computer-based data processing systems. 2. To explore the use of computers for real-time processing and to adapt hardware technology to present-day realities. 3. To enable the students to creatively apply basic analytical techniques for problem-solving and decision making. 4. To stimulate the students’ sense of social responsibility.

Department of Business Administration 1. To train students to become professional business leaders who are receptive to the changing demands of technology and who can, at the same time, give a sense of morality to the world of business 2. To prepare students for careers in Business Management and Administration and related fields, and make them ready to deal effectively with the problems they will face as professional and responsible citizens. 3. CHAPTER II
COMPANY PROFILE

Company History

PC Savers started when Mr. Jerome Atuan was already in College level from buying brand new computers or second hand computer set in JDYC Trading. However, when he graduated in College he began to establish a new business which is the “Buying and Selling of Car “. To get an extra income, he established a Computer Repair Shop Called “PC Savers” which means the “Savior of the Computer”. A few days later, he started to buy second hand computer and quality parts at Comstar in Manila. He has a very first customer which is the FTC Lending Company and he noticed that the company uses printer so he decided to add services called ink Refilling Station.
Facilities
PC Savers is well equipped in handling complex and sophisticated computer repair. They provide tools and other materials needed in repairing computer parts. The facilities are good. It has working space good enough for the trainee or even technicians. PC Savers also has a different type of device which is normally used in communication.

CHAPTER III
ON THE JOB TRAINING ACTIVITIES

This chapter narrates the activities that the student trainees had gone through during the training. This also includes the observation, participation, interaction and challenges during their training. This discusses its place as a development tools and how it was delivered effectively by the company. On the job training is an important way in which students acquire relevant knowledge and skills at work.

Narrative Experience May 27, 2012 it was the date when the trainee started the on the job training at PC Savers Trade in King. It is a computer repair shop which is situated at Melanios, Cabanatuan City. I choose PC Savers to do my OJT because they repair, troubleshoot, and network computer that is related to my course, and I think it can expand my knowledge about computers and gain more confidence and experience when it comes to hardware servicing. The trainee was assigned at the department which is the repairing. This department serves as the general maintenance for computer parts. Mr. Jerome Atuan gave a brief instruction and orientations about what are we going to do. He introduced the other workers or trainee for us to work well. He also familiarized the trainee in different parts of the computer which is said to be the primary key for all of our doings. Every morning, the trainee was assigned in different area which is the Repairing Area, Release and Testing Area. They assist the customer very well because it is the primary reason why the customer is very much willing to come back. They troubleshoot the problems and repair the computer parts being damage and at the same time install the needed Operating System. After that, the finished product from testing area will be followed by conducting test to see if the computer work or function well. If the computer works well, then it is ready to put an application like Microsoft Office, Games, Music etc. depending upon the customer’s request and satisfaction. Time came when she first repair the computer from the customer. At first, she is very nervous because it was the first time to repair without the help or the guidance of her trainer. It

is quite hard but she can do it. A month later, the repairing and Installing of different Operating System is just like an ordinary days. Mastering of different parts of the Computer as well as the safety measures is considered achievements. Being an apprentice on that kind of Area was a really remarkable. All the skills and techniques that they shared with the trainee will help her for her future career.
PROBLEMS MET
In my OJT I have problems met which are: * Lack of time to format many computers. * Short circuit motherboard. * Defected hardware like LAN CARD, VIDEO CARD, SOUND CARD .
OBSERVATION
During my training at PC Savers for almost two months, I observe the daily activities and practices that the workers inside the area performed, as well as rules and regulations that all trainee and technicians must comply with. They also noticed the proper customer handling as well as working with the hospitable technicians. And also I observed that the place was near along the highway that sometimes I lost my concentration for what I am doing. I can’t move freely because of the size of my work place. But I take this problem as a challenge so that I can improve my ability. It helps me to familiarized myself in all computer parts.

CHAPTER IV
ACCOMPLISHMENT AND CONTRIBUTION My accomplishments is when I finished my OJT and get my certificate and also my accomplishment learning more expanding and skills about computer hardware. I also contribute to the company like repairing some defected computer parts, reformatting and cleaning the working area and most of all how to handle and entertain some customers that have many demands on the service that they are getting. Sometimes, I help my co-trainees when they don’t know what to do. I teach them what they’re going to do.

PARTICIPATION The trainee participated in the normal operation of the Shop by maintaining the equipments and tools used in repairing and reformatting. Daily check on the important Parts and stocks of the computer such as processor, memory, hard disk, CD ROM’s and power supply. Errors must be predict and must be solve before it happened.

INTERACTION During the training at PC Savers Trade in King, the trainee learned to interact with other people. I experienced things that I never expect to happen. I learned how to communicate as well as to deal with the customers. I also applied the lessons that we learned from the School such as Reformatting and Installing both hardware and software that would help me in my chosen field. In a brief period of time. I learned a lot of them; the skills and t4echniques that they shared with me that cannot be found on books. Although we have different attitudes, we make sure that it will not affect our performances as young professionals. We learned how to interact with each other and at the same time sharing knowledge and skills

CHALLENGES Challenge is a test of one’s abilities or skills in handling different situations. During the trainee’s on the job training, she met some challenges that push her to work much better. First is when one of her co-trainee challenged her to be greedy in learning new things and skills. I was very insecure with what others can do so I turned this weak point into strengths’. I worked hard so that I can do what others can. Another thing is the noise being brought by the motorcycles. It affects especially my performance and concentration with my work. I do not clearly hear the instructions given by the instructor so the result is failed to the task given or even work not done well.

PROBLEMS MET AND SOLUTIONS OFFERED Problems that the trainee encountered during her training were all related to her poor Performance. First is to fail to hear the instructions clearly, work not done well and failed to do the task given. These are common causes of the problems that I have encountered. However, in every problem there is always a possible solution. It is important to take note the important details, focus to the task given and listen very carefully to avoid any mistake during working hours.

CHAPTER V
PERSONAL EVALUATION, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presents the entire training period with the training period with the activities done by the trainees. This shows the accomplishments and skills being enhanced during the internship period that gave them the best training ground as beginner.

COMPETENCIES GAINED The training inside the Shop is learning experienced each day. The trainee learned to appreciate the lessons studied in school. She was able to realize the importance of theories and formulas that was discussed inside the classroom. And also to understand that everything that was thought inside the school can be a tool that can be used in future career. As a trainee was working as a trainee at PC Savers, she learned to become a hard-working person. Time to complete the output product is not important, but the quality. She also learned to follow the instructions as what the instructor said and to accept opinion that they suggested. At the school, being late is better than absent. But as what the trainee learned at PC Savers, being absent is better than being late. Being absent can cause of emergency situations

like sickness, unpredicted travels and phenomena, while, being late is a cause of misbehavior and unable to manage the time. Lastly, the trainee learned that on the job training is not just only a subject to be passed or a requirement to be completed but on the job training is an opportunity to show what skills, talents and techniques that the student learned from the school and also an opportunity to experience the life outside the campus; serving companies like a professional on the field of the students specialization.

PROJECTS/OUTPUT At the end of the trainee’s OJT, she was able to repair different types of computer and able to help in repairing different kinds of computer troubles, she was also able to handle computer tools and equipments for assembling and disassembling.

IMPACT TO FIELD OF SPECIALIZATION The training served as the stepping stone of the trainees to the real life being an employee. The trainees have realized that learning is a lifetime commitment that is continues even you already have a job. The training gave the students more initiative to their chosen career. The students were m ore encourage pursuing the Computer Technology and Networking course. The trainees were given some ideas what could be the feeling or situation being an employee. The training enriched their individuality as a beginner and created the foundation of being a good worker. The best thing that the trainees have gained inside the Shop was good orientation of person having the higher positions.

CONCLUSION The students have undergone a good training. Parts of the Computer were exactly related to what was discussed inside the classroom. The nature of the career course was the main focus of the training. The training of students will be useful if the nature of their training have the major concern for their chosen career. The trainees would be able to use the experiences they have gone through during the training whenever they are already in the field of specialization.

RECOMMENDATION PC Savers created a good service to their clients and gave the best training for the students. The students must have a good company that would give them a good training ground and would enhance their knowledge and capabilities. The school must have the good coordination for some companies that offer an annual On the Job Training inside their company. The school should provide additional training program and seminars regarding trouble shooting and repair of Computers for Computer Technology and Networking Students.
