1. What is business intelligence? Why is it more than just information?
A: Business intelligence is to collective information about your customer, your competitors, your business partners, and your competitive environment, your own internal operations that gives you the ability to make effective, important, and often strategic business decision. Business intelligence represents the tools and system that plays a key role in the strategic planning process of the corporation. That enables access to and analysis of information to improve and optimize decisions and performance.
Because intelligence is information “on steroid”, that enables your organization to to extract the true meaning of information to take creative and powerful steps to ensure a competitive advantage. So business intelligence is much more than just a list of the products you sell. It could combine your product information with your advertising strategy information and customer demographics information to help you determine the effectiveness of various advertising media on demographic groups segmented by location. So that business intelligence is more just information.
2. What are the five important software components of a database management system?
A: Five software components of a database management system is the DBMS engine, data definition subsystem, data manipulation subsystem, application generation subsystem and data administration subsystem.
DBMS engine accepts logical requests from various other DBMS subsystems, converts them into physical equivalents, and actually accesses the database and data dictionary as they exist on a storage device.
Data definition subsystem helps the user create and maintain the data dictionary and define the structure of the file in a database.
Data manipulation subsystem helps the user to add, change, and delete information in a database and query it for valuable information. Software tools within the data manipulation subsystem are most often the
