Introduction

People’s view on leadership has been changing due to factors such as the ever-changing world, observation of different leaders and the influences of these leaders. Leadership is about working and motivating a team in achieving goals, adapting to a different situation to accomplish in the organization. For an organization to prosper, it will need someone great with the intelligence and power to be creative and know how to run their position on what to represent. This quote “Never give an order that can’t be obeyed” means a leader should be able to fight for what one’s believe and defend anything against in a teamwork, continuously motivating. Good leaders are not born. They are made. The art of leadership is one who raised the standards by which they judge themselves and by which they are willing to be judged. (Smith, 1944)

Handy (1992) defined leadership as ‘A leader shapes and shares a vision which gives point to the work of others’. One such example is Sim Wong Hoo of Creative Technology.

Sim Wong Hoo as a Transformational Leadership

He is considered a transformational leadership based on Dexter Dunphy and Doug Stace (1990). He had a vision of selling 100 million units of something back when Creative was only a tiny little company. He knew that people would make fun of him for his ridiculous vision, but that did not stop him from being creative.

He shared his vision with his team of about 10, including himself, working day and night to develop a new motherboard, the BIOS, a sound card, a new graphics board and a Chinese OS. Everyone strived to achieve this goal and together they build the vision for Creative. However, things did not turn out as planned, but he still strived to achieve his vision. His dream eventually came true when Creative had sold over 100 million units of Sound Blasters. (Sim, 1999)

Conclusion

With this knowledge, it can make a difference on how I will lead a team with a vision in mind. A vision for the
