Arizona is mainly a desert, but that doesn't make it just barren wasteland. Arizona is actually a really nice place despite the scorching weather. I didn’t have a specific thing that i wanted to learn from Arizona. I just want to know more about this state that I see so little of. It also doesn’t hurt that one of my friends and some of my family live there. I just wanted to see how different some of the places in the same country could be. America has many different climates from snowy icy…

Throughout time, places establish their own unique identities and images and become known for what inhabits those parts. Places like Florida and New York earned nicknames such as the Sunshine State and the Empire State due to events or things that people often associated with that area. In the 1830’s and 1840’s, Arkansas had succeeded in becoming a state; however, when Arkansas was only a territory, it had already established an image and a growing nickname: the Bear State. Although somewhat distorted, Arkansas earned this accurate nickname not only because of its large black bear population, but also for the way citizens of Arkansas behaved during this time.…

The novel Montana 1948, by Larry Watson tells the story of the struggles of a family torn between loyalty and justice. Ideas about racism and identity are explored in the novel through the use of perspective and the point of view. The point of view is the mental positioning from which a story is observed or narrated and in Montana, Watson has chosen to write in first person through the eyes of a 52 year old man telling the events which happened 40 years before. The complexity of the point of view adds depth to the story and encourages the reader to think about how different point of views can change the perception of a story.…
