Shoulg Torture be legalized

Should the Government allow Torture? The issue of the government legalizing torture is being very current and has brought a lot of debate between those who are against it, those who think that it sometimes can be used for good, and those who are between. But first what exactly is torture? It can be defined as the act of inflicting pain as a punishment or revenge to try and acquire some sort of confession about a particular issue or information. The importance of this is in the idea of whether it is more important to protect human rights or use it as a means of obtaining important information which could be used for the safety of the society. With so many criminal attacks going on like the September 11th incidence in which the twin towers where bombed and many people lost their lives, one would argue that by torturing criminals, information about such could be obtained and such attacks could be prevented. However, the question still remains on whether the government should consider torture as a means to be used in the prosecution of terror or should the right of not being tortured be protected? I would argue that torture should not be used under any circumstances because it is very immoral, inhuman and it cannot be justified. Torture should not be legalized by the government because it is wrong. Torture does not represent America. To me, America represents freedom and torture is not an aspect of freedom. Every human being has its own rights protected by the human rights conversion, and not being tortured is one of them. As such torture should not be allowed in any case. If the government allows torture that means they have violated the international law and if one fundamental human right is violated today it may lead to more human rights violation and this is something that none of us wants.
