Since quality of education is a large concern when buying a house has the school voucher system…
The decision to public school or home school continues to be a very controversial topic. Parents want what’s best for their children. Whether one decides to send their child to public school or home school, it’s a decision that must be made with a lot of careful consideration. In the world we live in today a lot of parent’s feel as if their children are not getting an adequate education, they worry about safety concerns, peer pressure, and religious values.…
What do you think the benefits might be for the school and for the community?…
Federal involvement has had a deep impact in schools. As with all forms of change, the involvement of the federal government has pros and cons. The federal government has been a large influence over how the school system works. Overall, I believe that federal involvement has been positive for schools. One great advantage of having federal involvement is that teachers are held to a standard.…
With the much needed public school reform that our country is faced with throughout the whole nation, charter schools have been at the top of the discussions. Many wonder how charter schools work better than the alternatives. Well, since they are free of many regulations, they are allowed to reach to students unlike any other public school. They simply are allowed to use innovative ideas in an effort to improve student’s achievement.…

II. People from the “No Child Left Behind” program argue that the SAT is extremely biased towards lower class students in regards to how much more help the upper class students receive in preparation to the SAT.…
Students may become more involved with school. They will decrease their bad behaviors. Not to mention the mood shift for the better. Many studies have all pointed to the same thing: later start times are much better for the students. Students will be able to sleep longer and feel much more well rested. That leads to all kinds of academic, mental, and behavioral benefits. Make schools better with just one simple step: delay the start time. By benefiting the students, the schools are raising a better generation and, therefore, a better future for all of…
The debate continues on which school is better. A school of choice (charter, online, or home schools.) or the public schools system. A school of choice is a better choice than a regular public school. But a lot of people are against schools of choice.…
When competition is introduced into the market the players then preform at a higher level. The U.S. Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos is the strongest advocate for the vouchers and alternate schools of choice system. She has given her own money in her home state before she became the secretary to help further the cause. (Maxwell) there is a strong belief that if given the freedom to choose the school a child attends, it will open educational opportunity never afforded to some of the children in our society. The voucher system works by giving each child a set amount to use towards tuition to any school they choose, opening the possibility for some children to attend private schools they would not have had the money to pay tuition on in the past. The other options would be; magnet, charter,…
The aspect of value is called into question. Is decreasing the budget deficit more important than what is best for the children? One may determine that the CPS should have done one of the other effective methods rather than closing down these schools. However, it may not be the case that using one of those other methods would save the CPS as much money as the closings do. Another aspect that must be considered is definition. When one is asking if the closings are the best solution for the children, one should define what “best” means. Best can mean what is better for the child academically; best can also mean what is safer for the child. This is where parents and the CPS begin their controversy over which is more important: the child or the…
First of all, charter schools don't have to follow as many government guidelines on their curriculums, so they have more freedom of what they can teach to their students. Another thing they say is better is limited class sizes. Due to the lottery type entry system, they can keep classes smaller, thus making a lower student to teacher ratio. This gives teachers more time with each student. More time with each student could lead to a better education. However, many of these theories haven't been proven true, and I still think charter schools don't have enough upside to keep…

This is a major problem because public schools are being run at the lowest budget possible and dividing the money for charter and traditional schools means everyone is strapped for money. Many educators argue that it is not ethical to take money away from schools that are in need of programs that will benefit student achievement; while others argue that it is not ethical to make students attend failing schools. The infrastructure of charter schools will be different based on state…
It offers smaller class sizes and the ability to tailor the curriculum to the individual student. For students who are either above or below grade level this is a great advantage, because it allows them to work at their own pace. For students with ADHD and other learning disabilities, homeschooling can offer more one on one instruction with less distractions than there are in a larger classroom setting. Homeschooling generally takes less time per day than attending a public school as the student does not need to ride the bus to school, wait to use the bathroom and line up to go to lunch. Also, since students can work at their own pace (instead of everybody having the exact same amount of time for math and other subjects), students can spend less time on the subjects that they do well and more time on the subjects they struggle…
