Perianesthesia Nurse Manager Role Analysis
How would you describe your role in your clinical setting?
The role of the Perianesthesia nurse manager is to oversee the personnel within the Perianesthesia department, work collaboratively with physicians and/and or other allied health practitioners as well as administration to ensure that departmental goals as well as institutional goals are attained. The manager needs to have a good working knowledge of the care standards for the department and ensure that these standards are being met.
Do you see yourself as a leader or manager or do you consider your role comingled?
Truly there is a bit of both leader and manager within the nurse manager role. Strong leadership skills are required to effectively lead a team through change and to contribute

I also encourage my team leaders and staff to work collaborative within themselves and with other teams to maintain efficiencies and ensure quality outcomes for our patients.
•Evidence Based Practice- When the staff propose a needed change, I encourage them to look to the research to see what evidence is out there already.
•Quality Improvement- We have a quality academy at our organization and all my staff are bronze quality certified which is the entry level. I have attained my silver certification and worked with others on several gold projects.
•Safety- We have a strong commitment to safety here and I always look to see that patients as well as staff safety is of paramount importance. I encourage staff to identify issues and post on our CTS board for improvement.
•Informatics- I work very closely with our two Surgical Services Nursing Informations to ensure that our practice and documentation align. Staff also are empowered to identify areas for improvement in these areas and often act as change agents in this
