1. Introduction
This report is commissioned to evaluate the presentation on Kenworth Motors’ case studies. The presentation examined the issue faced by Kenworth Motors, a major large vehicle sales and rental company, in light of the change of management in some key sectors. Kentworth has been profiting for the past decade. However, after the adjustment in the management team, some conflicts began to arise in management level. The managing director of Kenworth Motors Robert Denton had problems in cooperating with the procurement manager and human resource manager. The OD consultant was introduced in this scenario to identify the causes of the issues and to find possible solutions.
In the presentation, the issue was discussed from the perspective of an Organizational Development consultant who was commissioned to diagnose the problems arising from the change of management. On the basis of the consultant’s approach, the presentation assessed its effectiveness by utilizing the action research model. The strength and weaknesses of the consult’s practices were discussed in the presentation.
This report will also focus on the discussion of action research model which determines the effectiveness of problem identification and resolution within an organization. in most cases, action research are necessary procedures that a manager or a OD consultant need to go through to clarify the causes and effects of specific issues in the process of organizational operation and management. The problem diagnosis is divided into individual level and organizational level. This report is to re-evaluate the problem identification approach in Kenworh Motors case studies from the perspective of group and job level diagnosis.
The theoretical framework of action research for organizational development will be reviewed in relation to the change management model. The emphasis of this section is to clarify the approach adopted at both individual level and organizational level. The
