1. Define the occupational health as reported in the occupational health department.
2. Describe at least three of the services and activities provided by department.

4. Identify the aims and the barrier they face in occupational health department through the assessment of the department.
5. List three of the main focus objectives in occupational health department.
Rationale: To be familiar with activities and services for guiding, referring people, to recognize challenges and what we can do to support them, to promote occupational health services, to recognize our role as a community nurses in the field of occupational health.
3) Anecdotes (diary) of how objectives are met/not met:-
We arrived to the department at 09:30 and met the head of the department Dr. Josef. We had a briefly discussion about their services and activities provided by the department. He also gave us a hard copy file explaining their services.
Occupational health department is a cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The department of occupational health and safety apply programs dealing with the fostering of the safety and healthy work environment. They may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.
Occupational safety and health can be important for moral, legal, and financial reasons. All organizations have a duty of care to ensure that employees and any other person who may be affected by the companies undertaking remain safe at all times. Moral obligations would involve the protection of employee's lives and health. Legal reasons for their practices relate to the preventative, punitive and compensatory effects of laws that protect worker's safety and health. They can also reduce employee injury and illness related costs, including medical care, sick leave and disability benefit costs. They may be involved in the interactions among many subject areas, including occupational medicine, occupational hygiene , public health, safety engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, health physics and occupational health psychology.
Occupational health aim to promote and maintain the highest degree of physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations, the prevention amongst workers of departures from health caused by their working conditions, the protection of workers in their employment from risks resulting from factors adverse to health, and, to summarize, the adaptation of work to man to his job.
The main focus of occupational health lies in three objectives: (i) the maintenance and promotion of workers’ health and working capacity; (ii) the improvement of working environment and work to become safe and healthy and (iii) development of work organizations and working cultures in a direction which supports health and safety at work and in doing so it also promotes a positive social climate and smooth operation and may enhance productivity of the undertakings.
The occupational health department is covering about 1.3 million workers across Jordan, and its Work covers all industrial installations from small workshops to big factories .Their staff is about 15 doctor and 10 technicians.
It begins its work from examining the worker before he starts the work in order to determine if he has decent health to work .This procedure is compulsory for all...
