My Family Vacation to Niagara Falls
Wendy Conley
September 21, 2011 My Family Vacation to Niagara Falls…. It was time for us to start planning our summer vacation. We had a family meeting and our choices this year were Niagara Fall or South Carolina. We had all the information about each place in front of us. We all sat at the kitchen table and went through the areas of interest and voted on Niagara Falls. It was a unanimous vote. All the plans were made and set for August 8, 2011. We had no idea how much we would enjoy this place which left us memories to last a lifetime.
We got up very early that Monday morning and loaded everything into the car for our journey to Niagara Falls. It was me, my husband Jim, my 11 year old daughter Makayla, my 9 year old son Jimmy, and my daughter’s best friend Lia Mae. It took us 5 ½ hours to get there. On our journey there we played a game called 20 questions. In the game of 20 questions a person can be a plant, animal, or object. The other people have to ask questions to find out what the person is. We played “I Spy”. Someone would describe something that they saw and we had to guess what they saw. We started singing random songs that we knew without listening to the song. Then we started jamming to some music on the radio. We had to make a pit stop for gas, food, and the bathroom. When we arrived at Niagara, we started looking for our hotel. We found our hotel, The Swiss Motel, and then checked in. After we checked in the children were not ready to go walking to look at the waterfalls. They wanted stay at the hotel and swim in the pool. The weather was beautiful when we arrived at Niagara. Later that afternoon we decided to go walking and look at the waterfalls. When we arrived at the park, we walked around just to get a quick look at the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The waterfalls were so beautiful. I had never seen waterfalls so big and powerful. At night on the Canadian side the workers would shine these big spot

It was going to be a short ride only about 4 hours altogether through the South Dakota mountains. About an hour into our ride, we reached the mountains and as soon as we did Brody, Eli, Maddy, and I rode our horses to the top of the mountains. When we reached the top of the mountains we got off our horses and looked out over the South Dakota scenery, it was a beautiful view. I have never seen a better view in my life. You could see so far since we were up so high in the air and when we looked down at Tommy and Cassie they looked like ants. After we took a few pictures we headed back down to Tommy and Cassie. We went a little further after we got down from the mountain and then we turned back and headed towards camp. We arrived back at camp we washed, fed, and watered the horses. When we were done with that stuff we made a fire and started carving on sticks for a competition we were having and then at about 11 we went to…

This photograph captures the notion how waterfalls are timeless. You can stare the falls for hours, and every moment feels like the last. As the water transcends down as captured by the photograph, a setting of Zen is created in essence. The photograph, captured in black and white, is contrasted in order to emphasize certain aspects of the picture and to draw in anyone who lays their eyes on it. Furthermore, the photograph’s size does not represent its vastness. As I mentioned before, an observer cannot understand the impact of Niagara Falls unless they view it in person. But, I feel if the picture were blown up, it would only help how powerful the image of the falls is.…

Today I left for Yosemite with my friends and our parents. It took us about 5 hours to get to get there. We took about 10 stops on the way. When we arrived I popped open the trailer and too a nice long nap because we got up at 3 am and left at 4 am. After my nap I met up with a couple of friends who were also staying in the campsites next to us who were also taking naps . We went hiking to Yosemite Falls with a guide to watch the water flow down. It was beautiful and there was a sunset which made it even prettier. Our guide who led us there told us we should make a list to follow every day we were staying. We asked what were the greatest thing to see. He said Half Dome, Ansel Adams Gallery Tuolumne Meadows, Mist Trail and Vernal Fall,Glacier…

On a spring day in 2011, what do you think of? Is it the flowers you planted or is it the birds as they chirped and created a melody? For me? It was a friday night. Now, you may ask, a friday night? What is so special about that? That night was one of the first times my heart set sail as my feet, one by one, stepped onto the softball field in Hallstead, Pennsylvania. I was in sixth grade, you know that grade that you start switching classes, being held more responsible, and were expected to be independent. Me? I was out to…

The summer following my sixth grade year was full of kick the can, capture the flag, ghost in the graveyard, and many more games played with the neighborhood kids. Some games got out of hand at times. As I tried to tag Conner to stop him from scoring in our little game of capture the ball, I seemed to forget I had a tree in the middle of my yard and I ran straight into it. Once during a competition of “America’s Got Talent” Logan mooned all of us, leaving us girls petrified. Then one hot summer night I was running the bases as we continued our game of whiffle ball while Trenton started to pee in the open onto our homemade bases made of rocks... he didn’t receive chocolate chip cookies with the rest of us that night. Out of all our eventful times the one I treasure most is when we set up our own little camp site. We found two tents and connected them both in my backyard. We slept outside, one tent for the boys and one for the girls. Eventually the boys got scared by a gunshot we heard in the distance so they joined us but were kept at a distance by my mother who kept an eye on us that night. Long games of truth or dare were…
