Movie Review-a Walk to Remember
It has always been a mystery that although love is one of the most spoken and most written words of all times, it is still one of the most unexplained mysteries of a human emotion. How love can bring you happiness and pain at the same time. How love can make you sane and crazy at the same time. How love can change you and how love can make you accept the things you were not used to.
A Walk to Remember is another extra-ordinary love story. The film is based upon a novel by Nicholas Sparks. The story takes place in a small town; this is the romantic story of a wild child Landon Carter (Shane West) and the preacher’s daughter Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore). Jamie is quiet, religious, nice and intelligent but definitely not sociable. She wears dorky sweaters and dorky dresses. Landon is the campus heartthrob, rich, troublemaker, aimless, and reckless. I can see that he had no plans, no future and no faith in himself. He and his stupid friends convinced a boy to jump off a tower into the river in order to join his gang. The prank goes wrong with the boy ending up in the hospital. Landon gets blamed so his principal gave him a community service to do. He was assigned to tutor students, and to participate in a drama club. He found difficulty in memorizing his lines so he seeks Jamie’s help. In spending time together, Landon learns to worry less about what others think of him and more about doing what he feels is right. The two become friends and a relationship develops. So what happens when the sweet and sensible good girl spends all her time with the arrogant and ignorant bad boy? They fall in love, of course. But as fate would have it, Landon finds himself unwittingly falling in love with plain Jamie, while Jamie tries running away from love until she can no longer deny it. Landon rages, then quietly suffers, upon learning that their love is a love that cannot be. So sad!
Ultimately what makes "A Walk to Remember" so different from the standard teenage films is that

This movie really depicts the cultural truth-value of gender roles in the current American society. John Tucker is the typical high school jock that is so handsome, athletic, and gets all the girls. All the girls nowadays have an image that every boy that they date should be like that. Also, it is quite a double standard because if a girl were to date 3 guys at the same time, she would be considered a “slut,” but if a guy wants to do that; his boys will say that he is a “stud.” The girls in this film are also depicted as the stereotypical girls who are either the cheerleader for the football or basketball team who get with all the guys, the smart girl who is a nerd, and the girl who is the class “slut” who hooks up with everyone.…

Life has lots of emotions: happiness, sorrow, guilt, frustration, love, and so on. Love is the one emotion which brings in huge changes in our lives and a different kind of emotion begins with it. How can we describe it? Describing love is very hard because in every phase of life, characterization of love can be varied. In childhood, through romantic films and stories, we started to get feeling that love is passionate and when people will be going through it, life would be full of happiness. In adulthood, people’s perception about love might change. Those who are fantasizing about love realized that it is not only about physical attraction but also about relationship, responsibilities and companionship. When ages grow, some people become optimistic about love, some become pessimistic and some of them are on a way to rediscover love. Definition of love can be changed not only with one’s maturity level but also with his/her cultural values. In Raymond Carver story – ‘What We Talk About When We Talk About Love’ – the main protagonists Mel and Terri, and Jhumpa Lahiri’s creation – ‘Going Ashore’ – soon to be married couple, Hema and Navin, had enough knowledge about love but they could not still fully realize it. So, they are on their ways to discover the essence of love.…

what says that anything is anything or nothing at all? Im so dull at times. I wanna find meaning in things and I want to be this great, philosophic all around girl. Im not. Majority of what I write or think is complete bullshit. Every so often it comes across as genuine and well thought out but really its just stupidity. Tbh I think that even to be diagnosed with something would be bullshit because im perfectly normal. If I asked you all to use some words to describe yourselves what words would you use? Student, Future entrepreneur, black, gay...all these titles but do they really say who you are? More likely than not they wont. And if I asked you to describe your closest friend could you really? In all seriousness no. Why is this? People, all people, are just a paradoxal ball of psychological issues and perfection. We try to define ourselves and each other. We want to belong. Not to be cliché but our goal in life is to make a connection with something. We begin to steretype. Whether its based on fact or not doesnt matter. And at what cost? While its true that we are at times rightly steretyped, our views of ourselves can be distorted. As a person, still trying to figure out what I want out of life, its not hard to see that the stigmas, increasing suicide rates, and the difficulty in being successful in education because of stereotyping hinders peoples lifes as well their concepts of themselves and others.…

Since science still can't find answers to these questions, several love-story writers often play around with the world of love. They either attempt to provide an explanation for love, or use its "unexplainable effect" to create a story.…
