Louis Zamperini Research Paper
Louis Zamperini was the son of Italian immigrants, was born in Olean, New York on January 26, 1917. By the time Louis could walk, he was already hurdling over fauna and furniture. After the age of 2 they moved to California for his father’s job. Anytime he was sat down in a chair he would bolt.

Louis could not sit still to save his life, always getting into trouble, then ran away. When he got older he went off into the Olympics and was one of the fastest runners there. He never gave up on what he wanted whether that be running or stealing, and so he would run as fast as he could and would run as far as he could. The fact that he never gave up on running helped him stay alive throughout the course of his life. Louis being so determined by

    Louis began to train for the Japan Olympics, but they were cancelled due to the war and he became part of the military. Time goes by and his plane goes down and the men are stranded in the middle of the ocean. Eventually they find land, but they are taken to a POW camp. When they arrive at the camp, the Japanese know of Louis’ fame in running, but they initially don’t treat him any differently. His life is spared, because they figure that they could use him as a propaganda tool. During his time in POW camps, he is asked to race against different people. In the first race, he races against a civilian and won. The man was unhappy and in turn beat him on the head with a club. His proficiency in running at this point did not help him stay safe, but instead hurt him. The second time he raced however did help Louis.
