High Performance Work Systems Summary

In doing the simulations this week in the High performance work systems, I learned quite a few different things in Human Resources that were very in-depth. There were some things and details that I didn’t even know took place in the department. I will be explaining the main issue of this week's topic, the choices the supervisor made in the simulation, and the main lesson I learned from doing the exercise. The main issue of this week’s topic was Human resources, and all of the different roles that take place in the Human resources department. Having to deal with hands on experiences of making important decisions concerning the employees’ wellbeing and satisfactions made the simulation all the more fun and real. The choices the supervisor made in the simulation were very important. He agreed with most of the decisions I made, but the section on bargaining was very difficult. He wasn’t happy with the arbitration decision on the employee pay raises, but I did the best I could do. One of the main lessons I learned this week is that working behind the scenes of human resources can be very antagonizing and tricky. There are a lot of negotiations that takes place and considerations of budgets that has to be met in order to keep a strong business running afloat. In conclusion, Human Resources can be what one makes it. Being able to communicate and negotiate and meeting the needs of the business as well as the employees can come all together with everyone on the same track and working together to complete common goals.

I will be including the things I learned throughout the last five weeks in this course, and also let those know what I plan on taking with me in my future career as a manager.…
