Ipod, One of the Greatest Inventions in the 21st Century
Although the 21st century has just begun, there have been many scientific inventions during the first decade of it, among which iPod is no doubt one of the greatest. iPod is a portable media player designed and marketed by Apple and launched on October 23, 2001. From then on, iPod has been the best digital music player in the world. iPod is one of the greatest inventions in the 21st century for many reason. First and foremost, the birth of iPod marked the beginning of the MP3 era. iPod, together with iTunes, another product of Apple, made a revolutionary change to the music player industry. At the time before, the main devises to store music files are CDs, thus the market was occupied by CD players. However, the invention of iPod put an end to the domination of CD players. It is more convenient to use an iPod than a CD player. As iPod has a hard disk to store music files, we need only to download music to our iPod rather than buy lots of CDs and constantly change one to another. Furthermore, as with many other digital music players, iPod can also serve as external data storage devices. Last but not least, enhancements to the iPod over successive years have been astounding in terms of features and consumer benefits. Now, iPod is more than a music player. Video games are playable on various versions of iPods. We can also surf the Internet and make Internet phone calls via iPod.
But there are still some problems. The batteries of iPod last only a very short time and are easily worn out. In addition, iPods have been criticized for their short life-span and fragile hard drives. Seeing these shortcomings, Apple has made efforts to perfect iPod.
Though having some defects, iPod has been popular since it was invented. With the improvement made by Apple, I believe that iPod will be better and better and live up to its position as one of the greatest invention in the 21st

After the release date of the IPod, November 10, 2001, listening to your favorite music became easier than ever before. The main goal Apple was shooting for when creating the personal digital device was to create an extremely simple user interface and sleek design many users would appreciate. Many people who were walking around with a Walkman, or seemed uninterested in owning a digital MP3 device now own an IPod. The product line has grown so large that businesses and educational institutions accept it as a useful tool. For example, a college student is now able to simply download a lecture or audiobook from iTunes University straight to the device within minutes, making it extremely convenient to study effectively on a busy day.…

Being the music fanatic that I am, I believe the CD, or compact disk, to be my favorite of the inventions. To begin with, the CD is much smaller, slimmer, and easier to store and carry than previous music devices, such as records and cassette tapes. Also, CDs are able to store so much music; up to ninety minutes on some disks. There are a few disadvantages to the CD as well. They must be handled very carefully so they are not scratched. Another disadvantage is that they are more costly than a cassette or record. The compact disk has become a major staple in most households today.…

The first generation iPod was one of the first mobile devices that a consumer could carry around comfortably. Before this, the bulky, disc-shaped Sony Walkmen dominated the market, requiring the user to have to go out of his way to purchase a CD and needing to change the CD in the event that he wanted to listen to a different album. Like changing a lens on a DSLR camera, it was impractical and time consuming. Therefore, Steve Jobs created the iPod, a mini personal computer that could hold music on a small device that allowed the user to switch from song to song easily, reducing the weight of the music kit and the time needed to change the song. The iPod also paved the path for the future of all mobile downloading through the creation of iTunes, a service still widely used today. The first generation iPhone was, perhaps, the most revolutionary piece of technology of the 2000s, bringing to the table a microprocessor, a touch screen, an iPod, a camera, a television, a telephone, a web browser, and a calculator all in a singular package. Before this phone, other phones used a trackpad or a stylus as means of interacting with the device. Consequently, losing or breaking the tool resulted in a useless piece of technology, in addition it the bulk of having to carry around another pen only for a phone. Steve Jobs aimed to ameliorate the situation by using a…

If you choose to stay less advanced in the world of technology that is certainly your choice. As pointed out there are several uses for the iPod. It is a great investment that offers hours of entertainment. I can appreciate Andrew’s comment that we live in an iWorld, but I do not believe that we have retreated to one, nor do I approve of his characterization of us as dead. Instead I feel that the advanced technology has enabled us to become an active member of the…

Portable MP3 players have come a long way since their humble beginnings in the late 1990s. The world’s first MP3 players, The Eiger Labs MPMan F10 and the Diamond Multimedia Rio PMP300 were shipped with 32 Mbytes of internal memory. MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3) the standard for audio compression that makes any music file smaller with little or no loss of sound quality redefined how music enjoyed and launched a new industry (Bellis). In October 1998, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming that Diamond’s Rio PMP300 violated the 1992 Audio Home Recording Act. The Feds ruled in favor of Diamond, which paved the way for the development of the MP3 portable player market. Apple was one of the first companies to take advantage of this new industry when it developed and released the iPod. Microsoft entered the game in 2006 with its Zune. The iPods and the Zune are very popular MP3 players and are similar in features they offer. However, they are also very different. By discussing their Features, Ease of Use, and Synchronization software, I will compare them and discuss both types of MP3 players in some detail. I will then give my pick and my reasons…

In today's high-pace society, technology is a way of life, which is why we humans tend to want the next best product out there. However, when it comes to mp3 players there is a vast selection, but the one that really stands out is the Ipod by Apple. This is because it is light weight and it can hold a large amount of songs depending on how big the storage is, and on Apple's latest model there is video capability. So not only does it have music but you could watch videos too. What would be even better is if there would be a digital camera on it as well, then your problems of carrying both the mp3 player and digital camera would be over. This is because this new product called the Ipod Camera/ Video would already have the camera inside of it as well as the music and video capability. This product would be directed towards people between the ages of 15-40, because people that are fifteen years old are just entering into the high-technology driven world, and people that are forty years of age are still in that time of their lives that they still make use of those little gadgets. In other words, this new product would make peoples lives easier by having both the digital camera, video and mp3 player all-in-one.…

The iPod Touch is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, handheld game console, and Wi-Fi mobile device designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It is the first iPod with wireless access to the iTunes Store, and also has access to Apple's App Store, enabling content to be purchased and downloaded directly on the device. It is ultrathin and colorful, plays music and video, rules games and apps, makes video calls, takes amazing photos, and shoots HD video. When we have to talk about features we should make a stop and say that iPod Touch is the best device in its class – if you are capable to find another device like this. Moreover, iPod Touch features are very fresh, sophisticated and advance, and I think its price is very fair. The iPod touch’s features are WiFi capabilities (802.11b/g/n), Safari Web browser, Audio, Video and Photo storage, Youtube video player, Calendar and Contacts, Clock and Calculator Applications, more than 250,000 apps, Dock and headphone connections. Apple Inc. is the market leader in portable music players by a significant margin, with more than 220 million units shipped as of September 2009.…
