Humanities Paper #2 If Genesis 2-3 were written from Eve’s point of view it might tell a different story than what we are familiar with. The LORD God had created the earth in six days but even someone as great as he needed a day to rest. The seventh day was a day of rest and God made it a holy day. Upon beholding his creation the LORD God realized that “he had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground” (2:5). Finally he caused a mist to rise from the earth and water everything; I had no reason not to believe what I was told; that Adam, the first man came into existence because “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Gen. 2:7). God created a garden in the eastern parts of Eden and Adam grew to know this as his home. In all his glory the LORD God created put all the trees that are “pleasant to the sight and good for food.” (Gen. 2:9) in Eden; at the center was the Tree of Knowledge of Good and evil. He also created rivers that ran through the garden. Adam realized that he was put in the garden in order “to dress it and to keep it.” (Gen. 2:15) Now, the LORD God gave Adam some instructions, he told him that he may freely eat from any tree in the garden. However, he forbid Adam from eating from the Tree of knowledge of good and evil. He said “thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest therof thou shalt surely die.” (Gen. 2:17) The LORD God provided us with so many food options, he even realized that Adam would need help so, from the ground, he created “beasts of the field, and every fowl of the air” (Gen. 2:19). However, “for Adam there was not found any help meet for him” (Gen. 2:20). This is how I came to be created; I was told that the LORD God made Adam fall asleep so that he could take one of his ribs and create a woman.
