Hsc300 Week 2 Assignment
This week we covered some additional information in regards to the data layer, more specifically the MAC layer, and went into the network layer of the OSI model. As part of that we discussed different routing protocols and systems.
Describe any feedback you received or any specific interactions you had. Discuss how they were helpful. Describe your feelings and attitudes. What surprised me or caused me to wonder? The feedback on my week 2 assignment was good. While it identified that there were some weaknesses in my assignment, I didn’t really feel like it really gave constructive feedback I could work off of to improve or better understand the subject. I’m not sure that I’d be able to create and maintain a system perfectly yet, but I at least have a more basic understanding of why you’d do thing ‘A’ versus thing ‘B’.
Learning Journal Task:
a. How are you finding the course?
This is the most challenging course I’ve taken so far. I think it’s a combination of just the subject in general (something I’ve never really explored before) and the materials we’re using to learn from. Some of them are fairly extensive and yet I don’t come away feeling like I really learned anything from them.
b. What are the problems that you are facing?
The biggest issue, I feel, are the Paolo Costa slides we are using. I get the impression that if someone was lecturing alongside displaying these slides I might appreciate them more. Whenever I’m going through them I feel like I’m just being given a bullet list with no context. There is a stark difference in the level of understanding I get from them versus the IIT text’s we are given. At this point, I read the IIT texts, feel like I actually learned something, then just go over the slides looking for any points that might not have been covered by
