Hsc300 Unit 9 Final Project
I have not personally had an animal diagnosed with heart disease at my clinic, where I had to have a conversation with an owner about a diet change, so I did my best with this post to imagine the different things I would want to be sure to tell an owner about heart disease and how I would want to make sure they understood the importance of changing their animal’s diet. One of the first things I would try to do is find out what type of food and treats they were currently giving to their animal and find out the sodium content of that food and treats. This way I could identify the areas they need to change, and I would also be able to see if there is anything they are currently giving to their animal that they could still give occasionally. I …show more content…
In addition, I would make sure I found out what specific questions they had for me so I could answer them or if I did not know the answer find someone who did. I have found handouts help a lot with certain things. An owner is able to read over the information at home and they can find out what questions they have and can come in at a later time to talk with someone.

What an animal eats plays a crucial role in their overall health and can have an impact on how different organs in their body function. A patient diagnosed with cardiac disease will need a special type of diet and special care from their owner to ensure they stay as healthy as possible. Proper nutrition can improve the animal’s overall health and quality of life. In addition, it can help to lengthen the life span of the animal. It is important for an owner to be made aware of just how important this diet change will be for their animal.

The most important thing for me would be making sure the owner understood why they needed to change their animal’s food and that they were going to be able to follow the vet’s recommendations. If the owner leaves confused or they feel like a diet change is not something their animal needs, they are as likely to follow the needed recommendations to ensure their pet stays as healthy as

In this Benchmark, five vendors were reviewed and an individual value was determined as a raw score to each evaluation criteria entry. Vendors were evaluated based on product quality, product capabilities, known business experience, reputation and history, length of time the company has been in business, warranty terms, and estimated cost. The problem that our product intends to solve is keeping people’s food and beverages the temperature they want on the go. Hot food can go cold and cold food can get too hot, forcing people to quickly find a fridge or microwave to heat or warm up their foods. Even then, things can go wrong, such as food going bad such as mayonnaise, and ice cream melting to a liquid. The lunchboxes of today are pretty much exactly the same as they would have been 50 years ago, with no major advancements in a food carrying case which is so widespread for people to bring in food from home. Our product will change the game on how people carry their lunches, especially in the winter and summer months. Our battery powered composite heater and refrigeration system will allow people’s lunches to be conveniently heated or cooled. It will even make it possible to bring ice cream from home.…

Only within the past century has the science of food been researched. As part of Fulkerson’s research, he visits a legendary food scientist, Dr. Colin Campbell, at an old dairy farm in Virginia where his family raised and milked cows. When Dr Campbell first came to the farm in the 1940’s, milk was thought to be the perfect food. We then meet Dr. Esselstyn, who performed some of the first surgeries removing buildup in arteries of those with coronary heart disease. Dietary cholesterol, which is tied to plaque that builds up in the arteries, is produced by animals. The same protein that we feel we need so much of, can be found in plant-based foods.…
