How Did England Win The French Revolution
In 1689 France and England declared war. England wanted to claim the land towards the Ohio River Valley, but France had already claimed that land by La Salle in 1682. The French had established a fur trade with the Indians around that area developing friendly relations, economic alliances, and military alliances. Instead of controlling the Indians like the English, the French became friends and business partners, therefore the Indians became allies with France a lot easier than England. The Huron and the Algonquian Indian tribes were allied with the French, while the Iroquois Indians were allied with the English. Whenever the colonies realized they would be getting involved in a war with the French and the Natives, the thirteen colonies gathered …show more content…
The king was eager to gain this new territory and ordered the Ohio Company to drive the French forces out of this valley. George Washington then led a group of 200 men to build a fort and destroy French forts. Washington didn’t have any luck accomplishing his goal, as a result General Braddock was sent from Britain to help Washington. At one point General Braddock and George Washington tried to advance to the Duquesne Fort, but they were cut off by the allied indians of the French. The British were destroyed by the natives because they used guerilla warfare. Many soldiers lost their lives, including General Braddock. Although the odds that England would win the war were very slim, they ended up winning because they captured French forts Quebec and …show more content…
England’s government abused the rights of mankind. Specifically the king had too much power that he used to control the Colonials and denied the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to the colonists. King George Ⅲ wouldn’t allow representation in government for the Colonies, prevented the colonials to settle in new territory past the Appalachian mountains, established a military that had unnecessary power over the colonials, violated English law and tradition, wouldn’t allow America to trade with any other nation, hired German mercenaries, and tried to get natives and slaves to revolt against the colonies. Because King George Ⅲ violated the people’s inalienable rights, the colonials had the right to step away from Britain and develop their own

The colonists realised that they needed help if they were going to win the war, so the France getting involved was perhaps one of the most important factors that led to the success of the colonists. It was Benjamin Franklin who asked the French to help in the resistance. The French, who were defeated during the Seven Years of War, saw the colonists’ rebellion as an opportunity to hurt the British. So, on February 6, 1778, representatives from both sides signed the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity, which stated that the colonists and French were now working together. The French supplied the colonists with arms, ammunition, and troops. The colonists utilized the French’s help in crucial future battles. Without the extra supplies and…

Looking back at Revolutionary War, you might question how America successfully defeated the British considering the British army was the best trained and equipped, and possibly the most professional army in the world. In contrast, America was in a state of disorganization when it came to economics and politics. The national government as a whole was greatly powerless. Unlike the British army, the American army was inadequately trained, had little supplies, and was not paid very well. Practically the British had all of the advantages, but the colonies still won their independence.…

I believe it to be more accurate that the Americans won the war, but essentially only by default. It was obvious from very early on that the British were superior in ways of troops, war tactics, and overall preparedness for warfare. The Americans, armed only with a deep passion for the cause and very little experience of battle, struggled to win any major victories against Britain’s immense army. While the Americans started to have some positive successes such as with the Battle of Trenton and more importantly with the Battle of Saratoga, it became clear that the Americans needed to fight this war differently. General George Washington specifically realized that the key to winning this war was not by winning battles but by dragging the war on for as long as possible, exhausting the British troops of their patience. This finally occurred with the crucial American victory in the Battle of Yorktown, the results of which left the British citizens, troops, and parliament ready to end this war and move onto the negotiation phase.…

The Glorious Revolution of 1688 led to the decline of governance and the removal of proprietors in the colonies which gave the colonists more self-rule which they were jubilant about. The term to describe this self-rule became known as salutary neglect. Another event was the French and Indian War that took place in the colonies between several European nations seeking to defend their territories. As a result of the war, several colonists went to a meeting known as the Albany Congress which helped unite the colonists and discussed the war itself. During the meeting, the colonists came up with the Albany Plan which failed due to the colonists inability to compromise.…
