Gerund As An Object Of Preposition
Gerund as an object of preposition
If we want to use a verb after a preposition, it must be a gerund. It is impossible to use an infinitive after a preposition. So for example, we say:
I will call you after arriving at the office.
Please have a drink before leaving.
I am looking forward to meeting you.
Do you object to working late?
Tara always dreams about going on holiday.

One may question why proper rhetorical structure is necessary in high and sacred calling of preaching. Richard L. Mayhue gives good answers to that question as he speaks, “None of these three elements [introduction, illustrations, and conclusion] can replace the Holy Spirit’s work of impacting people with the power of God’s word. However, to ignore or minimize these proven features of good communication makes a preacher negligent in exercising his human responsibility to be as effective as possible (242).”…

Some examples he stated were “loving it, liking it, respecting it, wanting it, wishing for it, appreciating it, thinking highly of it, speaking in favor of it, and otherwise officially standing for it symbolically, acting to promote it or protect it, and being disposed to do such things.” (p11). He believes that this reveals the difference between a person’s moral behavior of their character and the moral behavior of their actions.…

The song “Being Boring” was written in 1989 by Neil Tenant, but was sung by a group call the Pet Shop Boys. The ideology behind this song is The Great Gatsby because during the nineteen twenties, also known as the Roaring twenties, it was all about being wealthy and having opportunities. This song is about three eras in their life: the 1920’s, the 1970’s and the 1990’s (Being Boring by Pet Shop Boys). These three eras are important because these were big times in America. In the first verse it talks about the 1920’s and just explains what their goals in life were. Then in the second verse it talks about their 1970’s which is important because during this time it was all about sex, drugs and dancing. This generation was known as the “me generation” which suggest they did stuff because they liked it or it felt good not because anyone else told them to. Lastly the final verse talks…
