1. Gravity-the force of attraction a bigger object has with a smaller object
2. Inertia-an object at rest will most likely stay at rest, while an object at motion will most likely stay at motion
3. Potential Energy-the energy an object has stored depending on how high the object is from the ground
4. Kinetic Energy-The energy an object has sustained while in motion
5. Friction-The resistance when two objects come in contact with each other
6. Traction-drawing an object over the surface of the ground
7. Centrifugal Force-the force that pushes an object out from the center of rotation
8. Centripetal Force-a force that it takes for an object to take curves
9. Deceleration-the action of slowing down
10. Force of impact-the force generated when objects meet
Module 4: Signs, Signals & Pavement Markings
1. Explain the purpose of the following
A. The difference between solid and broken lines is: broken lines mean that whatever side they are on, that side of traffic can pass. The solid lines mean you can’t pass at all.
B. Yellow lines (broken or solid) indicate what type of traffic flow: broken: passing is allowed, solid: passing is prohibited
C. White lines (broken or solid) indicate what type of traffic flow: they indicate a barrier that you must not cross unless avoiding a collision or in special emergency
2. Observe and describe the different signs in YOUR city. Give specific examples of each (include color, shape, what the sign is for, etc.).
A. A regulatory sign: 35 speed limit sign, white, rectangular, used to regulate speed of drivers
B. A motorist services sign: library sign, blue, square, look for these signs to help find service stations, places to eat, rest areas, phones, and overnight facilities
C. A recreational sign: may be used in recreational and cultural interest areas for signing
