Bill of Rights – Persuasive Essay
Of all the Amendments we have, there are 10 main ones. Out of the ten main ones, I personally believe that the First Amendment is the most important one. There is a reason why this amendment is so important. The reason this amendment is so important because it protects the freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. One of the freedoms the First Amendment protects is religion. Freedom of religion supports the right for people to practice any religion of choice in public or private. It also includes the freedom to change or religion or not follow one at all. This is very important because nobody should ever be told how to practice his or her own religion or what religion to follow. Everybody is different, and we all see reli gion differently. Freedom of speech is also a very important factor of the First Amendment.
Freedom of speech is the right to communicate ideas verbally. This right is used in everyday life and is very popular. There are some limits to this, though, such as libel, slander, obscenity and incitement to commit a crime . Freedom of the press, also known as freedom of the media, is the right to express ideas using electronic media and published material s. There is a limit to freedom of the press, just like freedom of speech. The things people publish or say

have to be true and cannot be libel. People can get their points across through many different ways, so that's good, right?
Freedom of assembly, sometimes known as freedom of association, is the right to gather together and express, promote, pursue or defend a common interest amongst the people. If you don’t like something and want to protest against it, good news, you can. W ant to come together in support of something? You can do that, too. Let your voice be

In the final approved version of the Bill of Rights, it lists ten amendments. The amendments were written in “broad language” but in a way, very specific as well. Even though all ten of the amendments are very important, the first two amendments are probably the most talked about, especially today in modern America. The first amendment describes that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment” of the freedom of religion, speech, press or petition against our government…

The Constitutional responsibility of the press is to inform the public. The First Amendment comes into direct conflict with the rights and responsibilities of media coverage. There is a fine line between personal privacy and the publics right to know. The constitution overrides the option of privacy beside the amendment of freedom of speech or freedom of the press. Freedom of the press is to be guarded as an inalienable right of the people in a free society. Freedom of the press carries along with it the right to discuss, question and challenge the actions of our government and of our public and private institutions. Journalists hold the right to verbalize unpopular opinions and the privilege to consent with the majority.…

I started my assignment by really reading over the Bill of Rights and thinking really hard. It occurred to me that this was going to be a very tough assignment. Though I don’t think that a lot of the Amendments are upheld much anymore, such as freedom of speech, I could not think of any that needed to be removed or changed. So I started thinking about things that I thought should be added. It came to my attention that I shouldn’t try of think of things that should be added because of personal reasoning, but instead, things that seem to be aggravating a lot of people nowadays. I came up with three.…

If we did not have the first amendment, we could not freely voice our beliefs about God, which ties into our freedom of religion. Also, we have the freedom to assembly, which is the freedom to hold rallies or meetings in public places. Another important part to the first amendment is the freedom of petition. The right to petition is being able to speak out about government or anything you believe is not right. The government cannot punish you nor do anything to you if you say anything bad about them.…
