1. How can you apply the you attitude approach if you do not know your audience properly?

--Establish a good, respectful relationship with your readers by addressing them directly, writing in the active voice and using the second person (you, your, and yours), not just the first (I, me, mine, we, us, and ours).Try to empathize with your readers. Ask yourself: what do they want, what do they need to know, and what's in it for them? Rather than focus on your product, your service, or yourself, stress how your readers will benefit from complying with your message.
Earn the respect of your readers by being courteous, tactful, and gracious.

2. When writing messages, why should you wait before you begin the revision process on a draft? Why is waiting sometimes difficult to do? What strategies could you use to overcome this difficulty?
--When writing you should wait because there may be other ideas that pop up in your head before you decide to finish the message. By waiting and proof reading this gives you the chance to go over it and make sure you didn’t leave anything out. It is an ongoing process of rethinking the paper: reconsidering your arguments, reviewing your evidence, refining your paper. Check the focus of the paper: You should always examine the balance within your paper, Check the organization, check your information and conclusion. Waiting helps make sure all ideas have come together and that its presentable.

3. You are the manager of human resources for a company with offices in three states. You have a new policy that must be distributed to all employees. Some employees have computers and some do not. What medium would you use? Explain your response.
--I would call an early morning office meeting to address the policy with everyone in the office. Since everyone does not have a computer this is the best way to get the message across without having to tell everyone separately and it be done face

In elementary and middle school, we were all taught to write first drafts before writing our final copies. Teachers would tell us it is important to take the time to write and organize our thoughts and ideas before writing a final copy. I would never complete this step. I was usually one of the students that would spend my time writing to just get the writing done. Then, I would look over it quickly and correct only few parts. My “first draft” would usually end up being my final draft. I have never enjoyed writing and have never really liked my own writing. My writing was never the one talked about by teachers or ever given a good grade. I would never bother fixing my first draft because I never thought I could make it into a good quality paper. Lamott describes a brilliant writer sitting down and writing a polished piece of work in one sitting and then goes on to explain how that never happens. I found that really comforting because that is how I imagined many people writing. Now I know that is usually not how it happens. This made me realize that good writing just takes time. Some people might be better writers than others, but the way Lamott describes writing makes it seem that anyone can become good writer. I just need to take the time to write out my ideas to form an awful first draft that can later be revised into a “terrific” final…
