Earth Day
Hello Friends! Do you know what is Earth Day? For those who don’t know, I’ll tell now. Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22. On this day in 1970, 20 million Americans attended the first Earth Day celebrations. This year, the event was held in over 194 countries.

The Earth Day acts as a catalyst to realize our responsibility to preserve and protect what Mother Earth has given us. This day reminds us the fact that this planet’s resources are finite and will not last forever.

On this day, activities and demonstrations are held, aimed at raising public awareness about a variety of environmental issues including air pollution, water pollution and climate change. People join together to fight against a wide variety of issues like pollution, toxic dumps, oil spills and other issues that are causing harm to the environment.

I have four ideas to suggest to we can save Mother Earth.
1. Don’t pollute river because people and animal need water to live.
2. Don’t cut trees down. If you cut them, you should plant another one.
3. Don’t waste water or energy. Please turn it on when you need it and turn off when you don’t need.
4. Last but not the least, remember the three R’s, Reduce / Recycle / Reuse. You can recycle cans, bottle, paper and may more things you may think of.

Earth is the only planet where people live on. Please everybody do all the necessary steps so we can save nature and our planet Earth.

We are the next generation. This is our only earth, our only Home. We need to preserve it as much as we can. Will you do your duties towards Mother Earth?

Thank you

In “Earth Day” by Atticot and Manning they state, “The recycling rate has increased from less than 10% in 1980 to more than 34% in 2011. Now that has spiked, and some people feel that you don’t have to recycle anymore. However, that is wrong. Davis states, “On March 21, 1971, the UN Secretary-General signed a proclamation establishing Earth Day as an official international holiday.” That was signed in 1971, so it was still so bad that they had to make a holiday to remind people to take care of Earth.…

Earth Day, one of the first national demonstrations against pollution and other violations of the planet’s ecosystem happened on April 21, 1970. Earth Day was founded in 1970 by Senator Gaylord A. Nelson in response to the concern about what was happening to the land, rivers, lakes, and air. Until that time, guarding the planet 's natural resources was not part of the nationwide political schema, and the number of activists dedicated to large-scale issues such as industrial pollution was minor. Earth Day originally started off as a day of education about environmental issues, but has now become a worldwide commemorated holiday that is sometimes extended into Earth Week, an entire seven days of events dedicated to green awareness. Earth Day was originally aimed at creating a mass environmental movement and, by raising public awareness of air and water pollution, Nelson had hoped to bring environmental causes into the national spotlight. Now, more than 40 years, one could say that he succeeded in doing just that.…

Another alarming discovery that people had was the fact that the air was becoming unhealthy, and what they were actually breathing in was factory fumes and smoke. Environmentalists brought the long term risks that this can have such as acid rain and the threat of global warming, not to mention what it can do to the people who are using the polluted water and breathing in the polluted air. Amongst this controversy about environmentalism there was a celebration that stemmed from these problems called Earth Day that started from the idea a Wisconsin senator had where people would come in to college campuses and learn about pollution and global warming and other threats to the earth and then were taught what they can do to help. This educational day gradually spread across the nation and an estimated 20 million participated in some way on Earth Day in the next years. Environmentalism became a real help to America and it was acknowledged by almost everyone especially politicians, it crossed its biggest line after Richard Nixon signed a National Environmental Protection Act that enforced laws to have pollution…

Language features that have been used to convey the message of the cartoon and create an audience response include hyperbole and irony. Somerville has chosen hyperbole to convey his message by exaggerating the amount of pollution and litter framed by the window to make it seem more important and dramatic, creating a shocking and contrasting impression. Through the window you can see the pollution, rubbish, a factory spitting out smoke, broken sewerage pipes, an airliner, heavy traffic and a poison symbol. This encourages the reader to feel shocked and worried about how much pollution there really is in their local environment. Irony was also used to convey this message through situational and dramatic irony. World Environment Day was a day created specifically to raise global awareness and taking positive environmental actions to protect nature and planet earth. An expectation of this would be to find society come together and acting positively to…
