Through this process I will evaluate and explain the design and principles that I believe will be critical for the successful opening, and to day operations of our five new locations.

Starbucks provides a lot of value to and for its customers. As I was reading Starbucks mission statement, I noticed the company really strives for a welcoming environment where you would want to come do work, get a coffee, and just chill. I feel as though the company targets more millennials. Starbucks is a place where I would want to go do homework while getting an awesome Frappuccino. “To inspire and nurture the human spirit – one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time.” One big core value I saw on their website was community service. Starbucks employees connect with communities to give opportunities that help that local neighborhood. There is a link on the website to join or lead community service projects. “With your support, we can keep making a positive impact – one…

The second factor which affects the recruitment process is the time scales involved in the initial advertising and recruitment of new staff. First of all a decision needs to be made by management of the applicant required and the role to be filled. Upon a decision a job description would be written and agreed and the role would then be advertised to the general public. Upon receipt of the application forms the line manager would shortlist appropriate candidates and interviews would be organised. After the interviews, letters would be sent to unsuccessful applicants and the appropriate candidate would be informed. The introduction procedure to the office and workstation and the companies requirements also need to be addressed by the line manager before the contract is signed.…

One of the major economic areas in north central Wisconsin is Wausau. The city is home of the most popular technical college. The love of coffee and ice cream brings the owner to open a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins near the college. Commercial space is available to build a facility, and the spot is right. The competition is a few fast food chains and two bakeries. The city has no Starbucks, but does have a Dairy Queen that is at the other side of town. The market structure is a monopolistic competition. The area has a few large assorted sellers, products are differentiated, and there is easy entry and exit. The products are differentiated by the brand name; product attributes, and has the perfect environment. The owner will look at the elasticity of demand, profit maximizing, break-even point, total revenue test, marginal cost and revenue, barriers to entry, pricing and nonpricing strategies, and product differentiation. The owner needs to take into consideration the business cycle of the current economy, how to plan during this time, the effect of credit markets, international economic conditions and the effect they can have, and other conditions that may apply.…
